Experimentally induced toxic contact dermatitis was topically treated with 3 different ointments (Kamillosan ointment, Kamillosan ointment base. 0.1% hydrocortisone acetate). The structural changes of the epidermal surface were studied by means of profilometry. According to our results, Kamillosan ointment is remarkably superior to other reference products with regard to its soothing effect on human skin.

Seventeen patients with psoriasis were treated with 5% crude coal tar in an absorbent ointment base (Aquaphor) to one half of the body and with the absorbent ointment base alone to the other half. They received twice-daily erythemogenic doses of ultraviolet irradiation (UVR). Both modalities, crude coal tar and absorbent ointment base alone, combined with UVR were equally effective in improving psoriatic plaques. On the basis of this and previous studies, we question the therapeutic role of tar in the Goeckerman regimen.

It develops during the healing of various corneal lesions. Diabetic foot ulcer is one of the major complications among diabetic patients. Several studies have shown that the extract of Teucrium polium (T. polium) is effective in the treatment of diabetic and non-diabetic wounds, as well as burn wounds. The aim of current study was to assess the wound healing activity of T. polium extract ointment in diabetic rats. Sixty-four male Wistar rats were induced diabetes with alloxan injection (125 mg/kg) and surgical wound induced.
