Inverting papilloma is a very uncommon neoplasm; however, its ability to destroy bone, recur after incomplete removal, and undergo malignant transformation makes it an important disease to recognize. Because early diagnosis and prompt treatment offer high rates of cure, it is important to be able to differentiate inverting papilloma from more benign nasal growths such as allergic nasal polyps. This article will summarize the etiology, location, signs, symptoms, potential for malignancy, and current treatment strategies for inverting papilloma.

Presentation of one case of inverted papilloma of the renal pelvis, an uncommon entity with very few cases described in the international literature. The pathoanatomic presentation is that of a benign tumour, which would provide an option for conservative therapy through segmentary resection and termino-terminal anastomosis. Due to its low frequency, pre-operative diagnosis of this tumour is difficult, although the number of diagnosis could be increased with the use of endourologic techniques. In spite of the benign nature, it can be multifocal and relapsing. A close follow-up monitoring is re

Inverted papillomas of the upper urinary tract are rare lesions that have a male predominance. The associated symptoms are similar to those of other urothelial neoplasms. The tumors are considered benign and local excision has been advocated by many but long-term followup is lacking. We present a case of a locally excised inverted papilloma of the renal pelvis with a 3.5-year followup. While local excision appears to be ideal treatment, the difficulty with preoperative diagnosis and the reported coexistence of malignancy demand careful patient selection and close long-term followup. The biolog

RATIONALE: Sinonasal tumours are rare occurrences accounting for 3-4% of tumours (benign/malignant/co-existing) in the head-and-neck region, making it difficult to render an absolute diagnosis and treatment, thereof keeping in mind the tumour presentation and quality of life of the patient.
PATIENT CONCERNS: The patient reported with complaints of swelling over the right side of the face associated with recent onset of pain in the same region.
DIAGNOSIS: Upon clinical, radiographic and histopathological examination, it was diagnosed as right Sinonasal inverted papilloma (SNIP).

OBJECTIVE: The extent of the surgery required when sinonasal inverted papilloma (IP) originates in the maxillary sinus is still the subject of debate. The principal aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of exclusive endoscopic removal or when combined with a limited vestibular anterior antrostomy of the maxillary IP.
METHODS: A retrospective analysis was carried out of 64 patients with IP treated in our university tertiary referral center from 1993-2007. Endoscopic removal of the IP was done for all patients, either exclusively or combined with an open approach. All patients were foll

Sinonasal inverted papilloma is a benign lesion that occurs in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. Fungiform papillomas have been described as arising from the septum or the nasal vestibule, while inverted and cylindrical papillomas have been characterized as developing from an attachment site on the lateral nasal wall or a mucosal surface in the paranasal sinuses. Here, we present a rare case of an inverted papilloma that completely obstructed the anterior nasal orifice.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of endoscopic surgery for maxillary sinus inverted papilloma.
METHODS: From 2000 to 2011, 50 patients with maxillary sinus inverted papilloma were treated with intranasal endoscopic surgery or combined approach. Among them, 39 cases were primary and 11 cases were recurrent, which included 17 patients with Krouse stage IIand 33 cases with Krouse stage III. Different surgical approaches were selected according to the range and positions of the lesions. One case with severe atypical hyperplasia received postoperative radiotherapy.
RESULTS: All cases were follow

Urothelial inverted papilloma account for 2.2% of all urothelial tumours. The preferred location is the bladder; they occur singly and are generally benign, although the majority of authors agrees in treating this entity as a tumour of low aggressiveness. The report contributes four cases of inverted papilloma, three in male patients and the fourth in a female. One was located in the renal pelvis. A revision is made of the etiology, clinical signs and symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, as well as their relationship to surface carcinoma, as it occurs asynchronously in one of the cases described

Nasolacrimal tumors are exceedingly rare head and neck pathologies. They are locally invasive and have an increased possibility of aggressive malignant transformation. These tumors are clinically presented with a palpable mass, obstruction of nasolacrimal drainage, epiphora, and nasal congestion. Nasolacrimal carcinomas are rare malignancies that often take a long time before the correct diagnosis is made. The combination of endoscopic and open en-bloc resection can provide complete removal of locally advanced nasolacrimal tumors. A multidisciplinary team, chemo-radiotherapy, and follow-up mon

An asymptomatic 73-year-old woman was found to have multiple, simultaneous, inverted papillomas of the renal pelvis and ureter. A review of the world literature yielded 34 cases of inverted papillomas in the upper urinary tract: 13 in the renal pelvis, and 21 in the ureter. Among these 34 cases, there were 26 male and five female patients, with gender not given for three others. Patients ranged in age from 19 to 89 years (mean, 64.1 years). Many cases lacked complete clinical details but, among the others, gross painless hematuria was the presenting symptom in seven; hematuria with flank pain

BackgroundWith a 10% risk for malignant transformation to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), the treatment of inverted papilloma (IP) is surgical resection. Biopsy of IP can be helpful for diagnosis, but there are accuracy limitations.ObjectiveTo determine the diagnostic accuracy of office biopsy in patients who underwent surgical resection for sinonasal papilloma, and to examine clinical and pathological factors that impacted this accuracy.MethodsThis was a retrospective review of patients who underwent resection of sinonasal papilloma at a tertiary care center from January 2015 to April 2025 and

A 66-year-old female with a past medical history of psoriasis and chronic sinusitis presented with left orbital pain, proptosis, ptosis, and blurry vision, concerning for orbital cellulitis. Imaging revealed an enhancing soft tissue mass centered in the left anterior ethmoid cavity with extension into the nasolacrimal duct, with associated osseous erosion and orbital inflammatory changes consistent with ipsilateral orbital cellulitis. Endoscopic surgical resection was performed, and histopathology confirmed inverted papilloma without high-grade dysplasia or carcinoma. While orbital involvement

This surgical video demonstrates the case of a 38-year-old male with recurrent inverted papilloma involving the lamina papyracea and frontal sinus outflow tract. The frontal sinus was diminutive on the side of the tumor, and as such a combined endoscopic endonasal with endoscopic transorbital via transcaruncular route was advised for resection of the anterolateral tumor and contralateral margin. After endonasal resection, a transorbital approach was utilized to traverse the lamina papyracea from lateral to medial and resect tumor along the ethmoid roof and posterior table of the frontal sinus.

Inverted schneiderian papillomas are rare benign tumors, most often arising from the sinonasal mucosa. We describe a case of a 59-year-old female with an inverted papilloma of the supraglottis. This is the first reported case of a supraglottic-presenting inverted papilloma. Although rare, this case demonstrates that these tumors should be considered during workup of supraglottic laryngeal masses. Laryngoscope, 127:2830-2832, 2017.

OBJECTIVE: Sinonasal inverted papilloma (IP) is a benign and uncommon tumor of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses with a tendency for recurrence and even malignant transformation. Though the morphology and clinical behavior of this lesion has been well described, its etiology remains controversial.
METHODS: Computerized searches were performed in PubMed, Scopus, and Google scholar through May 2015. In this review, etiologic factors including human papilloma virus (HPV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), cell cycle related proteins and angiogenic factors, occupational and environmental exposures,
