The efficacy of sulbactam plus ampicillin in the treatment of various gynecologic infections was evaluated in 24 women (median age, 35 years). Ten women had pelvic cellulitis plus vaginal cuff abscess; six, pyeloperitonitis; three, vaginal cuff abscess; three, surgical wound sepsis; one, tubo-ovarian abscess; and one, endometritis. Fundamental and clinical studies were made on piperacillin (PIPC) and the results were obtained as follows. Bacteriological study of the biopsies taken from gastric and duodenal mucosa of 10 healthy volunteers and 74 patients with duodenal ulcer, was carried out. Twenty patients with osteoarticular infections, fourteen post-arthroplasty and six with osteitis, were treated with ofloxacin, usually in combination.
