One ferret (Mustela putorius furo) from Finland and two ferrets from Austria, aged 1-4.5 years and of both genders, were presented with pyogranulomatous subcutaneous inflammation affecting the inguinal, preputial and femoral regions, respectively. Histologically, microorganisms were detected within the lesions. The organisms had a capsule that stained positively by the periodic acid-Schiff reaction. This study compared the intestinal goblet cell density of turkey poults at 2 different ages using Alcian blue-periodic acid-Shiff (AB-PAS) and mucicarmine stains. Onychomycosis is a frequently treated fungal infection of the nail plate with morbidity in high-risk populations. The diagnosis often relies on histopathologic analysis of nail plate specimens with the assistance of special stains. Pathologists utilize periodic acid schiff (PAS) and/or Gomori methenamine silver (GMS) stains to highlight fungi within the nail plate. This study examined the occurrence and morphological features of serous-type cells in human sublingual gland, using immunocytochemistry for lysozyme. Lysozyme-positive cells usually formed demilunes and occasionally their own acini. Eight cases of hydatid disease of the abdomen and thorax were diagnosed by fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytology under ultrasound guidance. The age of the patients ranged from 28 to 60 yr with a median of 34.5 yr; the male to female ratio was 2:6.
