Investigation of the dichloromethane extracts from herbal and root parts of Mercurialis perennis L. afforded a mixture of 11 homologous n-alkylresorcinols (ARs) with saturated odd-numbered alkyl side chains (C15:0-C27:0). In addition to three predominant ARs (C19:0, C21:0 and C23:0), a number of minor ARs were identified by use of LC-MS/MS and GC-MS techniques. Among the compounds detected, four uncommon ARs with even-numbered alkyl side chain lengths were also determined. The overall AR concentration in herbal parts was 7 to 9 times higher compared to that of the roots. The results presented

Phytochemical survey of the methanol extract of the dried aerial parts of Andrographis paniculata led to the isolation of major labdane diterpenes, namely 14-deoxy-11,12-didehydroandrographolide, andrographolide and neoandrographolide. Andrographolide was found to be the major phytoconstituent of the plant which was biologically active. For better physiochemical characteristics and bioefficacy, andrographolide is subjected to semi-synthetic modifications. However, presence of several free hydroxyl groups associated with this molecule make it quite polar and poorly soluble in many organic solve

Debilitating neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative conditions are associated with complex multifactorial pathophysiology. Their treatment strategies often only provide symptomatic relief, delaying disease progression without giving a complete cure. Potent and safer treatment alternatives beyond symptomatic relief are sought. Herbal supplements have surely been explored due to their multiple component nature to enhance the effect of western medications. One such well-documented nutraceutical in the ancient Greek, Chinese, and Ayurvedic medicine system known for its various medicinal benefits i
