Location, location, location: the approach of healthcare professionals in defining the artificially gestated entity.

Clinical trials of artificial placentas are anticipated; however, debate continues over how to define an artificially gestated entity, and little empirical research has explored stakeholder perspectives on this issue. This article presents findings from the first study in England to engage with healthcare professionals' perspectives. Healthcare professionals, as intermediaries between developers and patients, and clinical experts, are central to shaping technology integration into clinical practice. The analysis presented in this paper frames their views on the artificially gestated entity by

Evaluating How Physician Attitudes May Affect Practice in Fetal Cardiac Counseling.

Advances in fetal cardiac imaging over the last few decades have allowed for increased prenatal detection and detailed counseling of congenital heart disease (CHD). When CHD is detected, fetal cardiologists are faced with the challenge of providing nuanced prenatal counseling. Studies in other specialties have shown that differences in physician attitudes exist around termination of pregnancy and correlate with variations in the counseling provided to parents. We conducted an anonymous cross-sectional survey of fetal cardiologists in New England (n = 36) regarding attitudes toward termination

Guidelines, practices, and interprofessional roles in oral health promotion in custodial settings: A scoping review.

BACKGROUND: People in custodial settings are disproportionately affected by, often preventable, oral diseases. Addressing oral health inequities is vital to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Universal Health Coverage by 2030. Obstacles to achieving Universal Health Coverage for oral health in the custodial context include the deficit of oral health professionals in such settings. Innovative workforce models of non-dental professionals are recommended to integrate oral health into routine custodial care. Despite this, no comprehensive review has been undertaken to s

Tourniquet use in different emergency medicine professional groups, results from a regional cross-sectional online survey.

BACKGROUND: Traumatic haemorrhage is one of the most common causes of death in patients with injuries. Targeted pre-hospital haemostasis can reduce morbidity and mortality. The use of tourniquets is advisable for external bleeding in the extremities that cannot be treated with compression or wound packing. There are recommendations for the use of tourniquets. Little is currently known about the level of training and frequency of use of various professional groups of potential tourniquet users. METHODS: A regional cross-sectional online survey was conducted on the level of training, frequency

High frequency of t(11;18) in gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphomas in Taiwan, including one patient with high-grade transformation.

INTRODUCTION: As with other allied health professions, recruitment and retention of dietitians to positions in rural and isolated positions is challenging. The aim of this study was to examine the early effects of the Northern Ontario Dietetic Internship Program (NODIP) on recruitment and retention of dietitians to rural and northern dietetics practice. The program is unique in being the only postgraduate dietetics internship program in Canada that actively selects candidates who have a desire to live and work in northern and rural areas. Classifying and Measuring Human Resources for Health and Rehabilitation: Concept Design of a Practices- and Competency-Based International Classification.

The burden of physical impairments and disabilities is growing across high-, middle-, and low-income countries, but populations across the globe continue to lack access to basic physical rehabilitation. Global shortages, uneven distributions, and insufficient skill mix of human resources for health and rehabilitation (HRH&R) contribute to such inequitable access. However, there are no international standards to classify HRH&R and to promote their global monitoring and development. In this article, we conceptually develop an international classification of HRH&R based on the concept of monitori

Association between GP characteristics and prescription patterns for antihypertensive drugs: a secondary data analysis in Normandy, France.

BACKGROUND: Essential hypertension incurs substantial cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, particularly in primary prevention settings. General practitioners (GPs) play a pivotal role in the management of uncomplicated hypertension in primary care, yet variations exist among GPs. The determinants shaping GPs’ antihypertensive drugs (AD) prescription patterns in the setting of hypertension remain ambiguous. OBJECTIVES: This investigation sought to examine the correlation between GP characteristics and professional activities on the prescribing patterns of ADs within the context of uncomplica
