BACKGROUND: Clinical research is essential for medical advancement but contributes to carbon emissions through activities such as travel, data management, and laboratory processes. As healthcare systems move towards net-zero targets, there is a growing need to understand public awareness of and attitudes towards environmental sustainability in clinical research. Public and patient involvement (PPI) can enhance the relevance and acceptability of research, however there is limited evidence on how best to co-develop tools to assess public understanding of sustainable clinical research.

The delivery of prevention services to children and adolescents through traditional healthcare settings is challenging for a variety of reasons. Parent- and community-focused services are typically not reimbursable in traditional medical settings, and personal healthcare services are often designed for acute and chronic medical treatment rather than prevention. To provide preventive services in a setting that reaches the widest population, those interested in public health and prevention often turn to school settings. This paper proposes that an equitable, efficient manner in which to promote

BACKGROUND: Marburg viral disease is a highly virulent pathogen with acute hemorrhagic fever outbreaks. It has generally received less attention despite its ability to cause explosive outbreaks in humans and poses a threat to public health. Marburg Virus Disease remains significantly under-researched, with a notable lack of comprehensive scientific evidence. This limited attention has resulted in gaps in understanding its epidemiology, clinical management, and prevention strategies.
OBJECTIVE: This scoping review aims to explore the epidemiology, transmission dynamics, clinical manifestations

BACKGROUND: Pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing for major depressive disorder (MDD) can reduce healthcare spending and improve patient outcomes. However, concerns about health equity, data privacy, and secondary usage of data require deliberation. We sought recommendations from members of the general public for policymakers' consideration.
METHODS: A four-day public deliberation was held in Vancouver, British Columbia (BC), from November-December 2024. Invitations were mailed to 15,000 randomly-selected households in BC. Participant selection maximized socio-demographic diversity. Participants rece

Armed conflicts persist despite global peace efforts, driven by cultural, religious, and ethnic divisions. These conflicts significantly impact public health by exacerbating the spread of infectious diseases and disrupting essential healthcare systems. This study aimed to assess the complex relationship between conflict and the prevalence, transmission, and management of infectious diseases in the affected populations. This study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to conduct a comprehensive search across five databases (EBSCO, Pu

BACKGROUND: More than 12% of women worldwide are affected by polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), whose symptoms are similar to those of puberty, often leading to delayed diagnosis and missing the opportunity for early intervention. This not only puts PCOS women under physical and mental stress but also reduces their trust in doctors and makes them dissatisfied with the healthcare they receive, which in turn affects their quality of life. Therefore, to improve the doctor-patient relationship and promote health, it is essential to investigate and understand the healthcare experiences that women wi

OBJECTIVE: Artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare offers potential to improve diagnosis, patient care and system efficiency. However, AI development, evaluation and post-implementation monitoring require large volumes of health data, and public trust is essential for enabling such data sharing. This study aimed to explore UK public perceptions of health data sharing for AI research, and to identify factors influencing willingness to participate.
METHODS AND ANALYSIS: We conducted eight 90-min online focus groups in May-July 2024, with 41 purposively sampled adult (18 years or older) membe
