The effects of minoxidil used in combination with propranolol were assessed in the management of moderate hypertension. All patients had diastolic blood pressures above 95 mm Hg after therapy with thiazide diuretics for 2 weeks and were randomly assigned to treatment schedules which added minoxidil and propranolol in dosage ratios of 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8. As the use of newer antifungal agents becomes more widespread, safety issues surrounding their use have become more important. To date, the safety profile of itraconazole has been well defined by its worldwide use in 50 million patients over the past 13 years. Data from clinical practice and clinical trials indicate that the 1-week pulse regimen of itraconazole is well tolerated and associated with a favourable safety profile. Adverse events are generally mild and transient. Furthermore, a dose increase to 400 mg in the pulse regimen has had no adverse impact on safety.

We performed a pilot study to assess the safety and efficacy of pulse therapy with terbinafine tablets in 66 patients with dermatophyte onychomycosis. One pulse consisted of oral terbinafine tablets (500 mg/day) given for 1 week followed by a 3-week interval. Topical 1% terbinafine cream was applied daily. AIM: To compare clinical effectiveness and tolerance of methylprednisolone (methypred) and dexamethasone (dexaven) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), to estimate side effects and complications rate.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The trial included 31 patients with seropositive RA (27 females, 4 males) stage II and III. Dexaven pulse-therapy was given to 16 patients in a dose 2 mg/kg for 3 days, 15 patients received methypred in a classic dose 1000 mg for 3 days.
