Effective treatment of high-voltage pulsed radiofrequency combined with oxygen-ozone injection in acute zoster neuralgia.

INTRODUCTION: Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is the most common and severe complication of acute herpes zoster. Early treatment of herpes zoster neuralgia is of great significance to reduce the incidence of PHN. This retrospective study evaluated the efficacy and safety of the combination of high-voltage pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) and oxygen-ozone(O2-O3) injection in patients with acute zoster neuralgia (AZN) who failed to respond to conservative treatment. METHODS: One-hundred patients diagnosed with AZN were classified into two groups (high-voltage PRF group [HP group, n = 50] and high-volta

Pulsed radiofrequency V2 treatment and intranasal sphenopalatine ganglion block: a combination therapy for atypical trigeminal neuralgia.

Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a chronic condition affecting the fifth cranial nerve and resulting in sporadic intense burning and shock-like pain lasting for seconds to minutes that can be incapacitating to patients. Atypical TN includes additional features such as continuous pain and sensory disturbances in the area innervated by one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve. Documented cases of TN have dated back to the 18th century. Today, there are roughly 140,000 people suffering with this condition in the U.S.A. Conventional treatments for this disorder include medical management with nonc

Modified transforaminal epidural steroid injection combined with pulsed radiofrequency: an effective treatment measure for lumbar radiculopathy.

BACKGROUND: Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a prevalent condition encountered in the clinical diagnosis and management of spinal surgery. Certain people may experience excruciating radicular pain in the lower extremities. If these symptoms are not promptly alleviated, they may progressively deteriorate, ultimately resulting in radiating pain in the lower extremities, advancing neurological impairments, and potential trouble in standing, significantly impairing the patient's quality of life. Consequently, clinicians require an expedited and efficacious approach to address radicular discomfort r

Treatment of meralgia paresthetica with ultrasound-guided pulsed radiofrequency ablation of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve.

A 23-year-old female with an 18-month history of left anterolateral thigh paresthesias and burning pain consistent with meralgia paresthetica was referred to our clinic after failing trials of physical therapy, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, gabapentin, and amitriptyline. We performed 3 lateral femoral cutaneous nerve blocks with corticosteroid over a 4-month period; however, each block provided only temporary relief. As this pain was limiting the patient's ability to perform her functions as an active duty service member, we elected to perform a pulsed radiofrequency treatment of the later

Effects of Intradermal Radiofrequency Treatment and Intense Pulsed Light Therapy in an Acne-induced Rabbit Ear Model.

Acne vulgaris is a common condition that can have psychologically deleterious effects. Since current treatments carry the risks of antibiotic resistance or teratogenicity, novel treatment modalities are under investigation. Our study investigated the efficacy of intradermal radiofrequency treatment (RF) and intense pulsed light (IPL) in the treatment of acne vulgaris in a rabbit ear model. We evaluated the effectiveness of IPL, RF, and a combination treatment on cultured Cuticobacterium acnes strains in an induced rabbit ear model, according to clinical outcomes as well as histological and imm

Ultrasonography-guided pulsed radiofrequency of sciatic nerve for the treatment of complex regional pain syndrome Type II.

Although the major mechanism of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) involves dysfunctional central or sympathetic nervous system activation, the peripheral nervous system also contributes significantly to its clinical manifestations. Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) is a recently developed treatment option for neuropathic pain syndromes. Here, we report a case of CRPS Type II after a femur fracture and sciatic nerve injury, in which the pain was treated successfully with ultrasonography-guided selective sciatic nerve PRF application.
