Spatio-temporal analysis of COVID-19 incidence rate using GIS: a case study-Tehran metropolitan, Iran.

Cryptosporidiosis is the leading protozoan-induced cause of diarrheal illness in children, and it has been linked to childhood mortality, malnutrition, cognitive development, with retardation of growth. Cryptosporidium hominis, the anthroponotically transmitted species within the Cryptosporidium genus, contributes significantly to the global burden of infection, accounting for the majority of clinical cases in numerous nations, as well as its emergence in the last decade is largely due to detections obtained through noteworthy epidemiologic research. Nevertheless, there is no vaccine available

Comparing different spatio-temporal modeling methods in dengue fever data analysis in Colombia during 2012-2015.

In this paper, we compare a variety of spatio-temporal conditional autoregressive models to a dengue fever dataset in Colombia, and incorporate an innovative data transformation method in the data analysis. In order to gain a better understanding on the effects of different niche variables in the epidemiological process, we explore Poisson-lognormal and binomial models with different Bayesian spatio-temporal modeling methods in this paper. Our results show that the selected model can well capture the variations of the data. The population density, elevation, daytime and night land surface temp

Spatio-temporal cluster analysis of county-based human West Nile virus incidence in the continental United States.

BACKGROUND: West Nile virus (WNV) is a vector-borne illness that can severely affect human health. After introduction on the East Coast in 1999, the virus quickly spread and became established across the continental United States. However, there have been significant variations in levels of human WNV incidence spatially and temporally. In order to quantify these variations, we used Kulldorff's spatial scan statistic and Anselin's Local Moran's I statistic to uncover spatial clustering of human WNV incidence at the county level in the continental United States from 2002-2008. These two methods

Global epidemiology of animal influenza infections with explicit virus subtypes until 2016: A spatio-temporal descriptive analysis.

Influenza virus, with a global distribution, diverse animal host range and multiple virus subtypes, has caused several pandemics. To better prepare for the emergence of new subtypes and the possible threat of the next pandemic, the global status of animal influenza must be defined and documented. We created a global database of animal influenza events by searching scientific databases and the primary literature on animal influenza-related events up to and including 2016. The temporal, spatial and host distribution of animal influenza and the diversity of influenza subtypes in different regions

Spatio-temporal analysis to identify determinants of Oncomelania hupensis infection with Schistosoma japonicum in Jiangsu province, China.

BACKGROUND: With the successful implementation of integrated measures for schistosomiasis japonica control, Jiangsu province has reached low-endemicity status. However, infected Oncomelania hupensis snails could still be found in certain locations along the Yangtze river until 2009, and there is concern that they might spread again, resulting in the possible re-emergence of infections among people and domestic animals alike. In order to establish a robust surveillance system that is able to detect the spread of infected snails at an early stage, sensitive and reliable methods to identify risk

Qualitative analysis on contaminants of emerging concern in Swedish landfill leachates: a snapshot of occurrence and spatio-temporal variability.

Landfill leachate is a complex and understudied matrix increasingly recognized as a source of contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) to the environment. This study provides a snapshot of the occurrence of CECs in Swedish landfill leachates, investigating their spatial distribution across five landfills, and their temporal pattern over a one-year period at one site. To our knowledge, this is the first study using qualitative non-target and suspect screening to characterize the spatio-temporal profile of CECs in landfill leachate. In total, 79 CECs were identified, including industrial chemical

Histopathologically confirmed radiation-induced damage of the brain - an in-depth analysis of radiation parameters and spatio-temporal occurrence.

BACKGROUND: Radiation-induced damage (RID) after radiotherapy (RT) of primary brain tumors and metastases can be challenging to clinico-radiographically distinguish from tumor progression. RID includes pseudoprogression and radiation necrosis; the latter being irreversible and often associated with severe symptoms. While histopathology constitutes the diagnostic gold standard, biopsy-controlled clinical studies investigating RID remain limited. Whether certain brain areas are potentially more vulnerable to RID remains an area of active investigation. Here, we analyze histopathologically confir

Spatio-temporal analysis and visualisation of the anthrax epidemic situation in livestock in Kazakhstan over the period 1933-2016.

An analysis of the anthrax epidemic situation among livestock animals in the Republic of Kazakhstan over the period 1933-2016 is presented. During this time, 4,064 anthrax outbreaks (mainly in cattle, small ruminants, pigs and horses) were recorded. They fall into five historical periods of increase and decrease in the annual anthrax incidence (1933-1953; 1954-1968; 1969-1983; 1984- 2001; and 2002-2016), which has been associated with changes in economic activity and veterinary surveillance. To evaluate the temporal trends of incidence variation for each of these time periods, the following me
