INTRODUCTION: We analyze the gender-based violence against women considering the Aymara ethnic ascendance as a casual factor.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: We applied the spanish version of the Index of Spouse Abuse Scales (ISA) and Woman Abuse Screening Tool (WAST) on 400 women, which currently live in the region of Arica and Parinacota, Chile.
RESULTS: The individuals show that non-physical violence is the predominant behavior in couples and higher rate of violence is present in women with Aymara ancestry than others.

We investigated variables predictive of domestic violence from 64 intake forms at a battered women's shelter. The batterer, usually the financial provider, used drugs/alcohol. Aiming the research of violence experiences in conjugal relation, this descriptive study, of qualitative and quantitative approach, aimed to identify conjugal violence in male discourse. Population was composed of 50 men residing in Calafate community, San Martin, a quarter in Salvador/Ba. In order to collect data, one utilized the interview with semi-structured formulary. Sample was characterized by men between 20 and 40 years old (74%) cohabiting. Concerning to conjugal violence, we found an 80% index. Relating to the forms of violence, we've distinguished emotional and physical violence.
