An 86-year-old man suffering from right hemiparesis and dementia fell from a stretcher and sustained laceration and bruising to his right eyebrow. He was brought to an emergency room, and his wounds were treated. Shortly after discharge, his respiratory and mental status dramatically declined. Emergency department (ED) walk-ins and ambulance arrivals are often modelled independently, overlooking their interdependence and the impact of fixed treatment space (TS) capacity. An established discrete event simulation algorithm has been tailored as the basis of a digital twin (DT). Driven by regular streams of incoming ED presentations, patient off-stretcher time (POST), ambulance bay and TS occupation across a 24-hour period contingent on patient flow and ED TS capacity was simulated. We conducted a cross-sectional study on the clinical and mycological features of onychomycosis in patients in the dermatology ward of Iwate Medical University Hospital, an acute care hospital. Of the 226 hospitalized patients, 73 (32.3%) had onychomycosis and 61 (26.9%) were diagnosed after admission. The anesthetic risks during placement of tympanotomy tubes were prospectively studied in 510 children.
