Preventive effect of insect tea against reserpine-induced gastric ulcers in mice.

The aim of the present study was to determine the preventive effect of insect tea against reserpine-induced gastric ulcers in ICR mice. A high (800 mg/kg) dose of insect tea reduced the serum levels of the proinflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)-6, IL-12, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and interferon (IFN)-γ compared with those in mice treated with a low (400 mg/kg) dose and the control mice. The serum levels of somatostatin (SS) and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) in mice treated with insect tea were higher compared with those in the control mice; however, the serum levels of motilin (M

Severity of Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa Korth.) Psychological Withdrawal Symptoms.

Kratom leaves (Mitragyna speciosa Korth.) are traditionally used in Southeast Asia for their medicinal value. Self-report studies suggest that cessation from chronic kratom tea consumption (freshly brewed kratom tea) was associated with unpleasant psychological symptoms. This study sought to assess the severity of anxiety and depression during kratom cessation. Regular kratom users (N = 150) were recruited from the northern state of Penang (Malaysia) for this retrospective study. The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) scales were used to assess the severity of the

In this study, a combination of electronic nose and GC-MS analysis showed that aged SCRP had a more intense aroma, which was attributed to the significant reduction or disappearance of components representing refreshing aroma, such as β-Myrcene and d-Limonene, while some components with thick odors like Valencene were newly formed. For the 'dryness'-like effect, the weaker effect of SCRP relative to CRP was initially confirmed in rats,

Green tea extract containing enhanced levels of epimerized catechins attenuates scopolamine-induced memory impairment in mice.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Green tea has been used as a traditional medicine to control brain function and digestion. Recent works suggest that drinking green tea could prevent cognitive function impairment. During tea manufacturing processes, such as brewing and sterilization, green tea catechins are epimerized. However, the effects of heat-epimerized catechins on cognitive function are still unknown. To take this advantage, we developed a new green tea extract, high temperature processed-green tea extract (HTP-GTE), which has a similar catechin composition to green tea beverages. AIM O

Blend-Brewing Optimization of Ganoderma lucidum Yellow Tea: Improving Palatability by Regulating Compound Release and Nanoparticle Assembly.

Flavored teas have gained popularity because they combine sensory appeal with potential health benefits. Ganoderma lucidum (GL) is a promising functional beverage ingredient owing to its high medicinal value. However, its strong fungal off-flavor and bland taste limit consumer acceptance. Yellow tea (YT), characterized by a mild-sweet aroma and mellow mouthfeel developed during sealed yellowing, provides a suitable matrix for moderating the sensory defects of GL. This study designed a blend-brewing strategy, optimizing the YT to GL ratio (2:3, w/w) and comparing covered (CB), standard (SB), an
