BACKGROUND: Carcinoma showing thymus-like differentiation (CASTLE) in the thyroid gland is a rare disease with generally a favorable prognosis. Treatment with surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy has been shown to improve local control and long-term survival rates. Twenty Wistar rats were divided into two groups. In the control group parathyroid allografts were transplanted into the kidney subcapsule. We investigated the expression of AIF (apoptotic inducing factor) and CGRP (calcitonin gene related peptide) at autopsy material of pineal gland and thymus of people after 60 years old. The expression of AIF and CGRP was identified in both organs, but it did not change with age, which demonstrates the probable safety of functional activity of neuroimmunoendocrine system at aging. OBJECTIVE: To describe the clinical presentations, laboratory features and management of congenital hepatic fibrosis patients at a tertiary care hospital.
