Tooth avulsion is defined as the complete displacement of the tooth out of its alveolar socket. The treatment of choice is immediate replantation or if that is not possible, placement of the tooth in an appropriate storage media. This report presents replantation of an avulsed maxillary central incisor after 12 hours of storage in milk. The tooth was replanted and splinted. One week later, it was treated endodontically and calcium hydroxide dressing was placed for 1 month; subsequently, the tooth was obturated with gutta-percha. During three years of follow-up, no evidence of ankylosis or infl

In an avulsed tooth with an open apex, a recommended procedure is to coat the root surface with topical doxycycline before reimplantation. Doxycycline, a derivative of the tetracycline family, has an antibacterial effect and anti-inflammatory qualities, and is effective in reducing inflammatory and replacement resorption following dental trauma. Treating the root surface of an avulsed closed apex tooth is a rational and recommended procedure. A case is presented in which an avulsed closed apex tooth, conditioned with topical doxycycline, was reimplanted in the socket. At follow-up, 16 months l

The avulsed primary tooth poses problems in its treatment and management. This case report on the long-term management of an avulsed deciduous incisor produced some diagnostic findings. Reattachment of the periodontal fibers occurred after 2 weeks of splinting. The normal eruption pattern was not delayed and secondary spacing occurred. Turner's hypoplasia occurred on the succedaneous tooth, but it was minimal. Replantation of avulsed deciduous teeth should be considered as a treatment modality under ideal conditions.

BACKGROUND: Avulsion of the permanent teeth is one of the most serious oral health problems among active children and adolescents. Traumatized patients require immediate and correct treatment in order to restore damaged structures and function that have major impact on daily patient's life. As a result, proper guidelines and fast treatment methods are necessary. This case report discusses treatment of maxillary right central incisor with an open apex that had been avulsed and replanted. We review applied treatment procedures to manage dental avulsion and restore function and aesthetics.

One type of traumatic injury to which young people especially are vulnerable is tooth avulsion, which may occur as a result of sports activities, automobile accidents, or other mishaps. This article describes a case of a 17-year-old female who suffered an avulsion of her maxillary right central incisor due to an incident in which she fell out of a motor vehicle and onto the pavement. The tooth was recovered by friends, who transported her and the avulsed tooth to a local emergency room. One of the patient's friends achieved replantation of the tooth later that night after leaving the emergency

Dental avulsion, the complete displacement of a tooth from its socket, is a severe dental trauma with a prevalence of 0.5% to 16% of all dental injuries. Replantation of avulsed teeth is common, yet recent studies show high failure rates and unpredictable long-term outcomes. This review examines clinical variables influencing intentional dental replantation decisions and proposes a treatment flow chart. A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed-Medline, Scopus, WoS, and Cochrane databases using the keywords "tooth avulsion," "tooth replantation," and "tooth ankylosis." Inclusio

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the avulsion of a primary maxillary first molar in a 22-month-old child, which occurred while she had a training cup in her mouth. The parents noticed bleeding in the mouth and a missing tooth, and brought the child to a pediatric emergency department. A clinical assessment by the pediatric dental team confirmed the avulsion and since the tooth could not be located, a radiograph of the chest was obtained to rule out aspiration. The chest radiograph showed the tooth to be in the proximal jejunum.

Between 1979 and 1997, 58 avulsed primary teeth were treated at the Pedodontic Clinic of Niigata University Dental Hospital. Among these, we replanted six avulsed incisors of four patients and treated two teeth of two patients replanted at other dental clinics. Referring to the clinical records, oral photographs and radiographs, we examined the injury age, cause of injury, condition of tooth storage, length of time until replantation, and also the prognosis after replantation. Three teeth of two cases remained until eruption of their permanent successors, and one tooth of one case remained und

BACKGROUND: Tooth avulsion is the most serious dental trauma, mainly affecting anterior teeth in adolescents. Delayed tooth replantation is the most common situation in clinical, but root resorption is a common complication that can lead to tooth loss. As implant is not feasible in adolescents, strategies to mitigate root resorption remain a major challenge in dentistry. We aim to evaluate the therapeutic effect and potential target of periodontal ligament stem cell-conditioned medium (PDLSC-CM) to reduce root resorption in delayed replanted tooth.
METHODS: Clinical samples from delayed tooth

OBJECTIVES: Tooth avulsion is defined as total tooth displacement from the alveolar socket; the best treatment is replantation of the tooth. Human milk influences body health, growth, and development related to the presence of micro and macro nutrient components. This study assessed the effects of human colostrum as a storage medium on the success of tooth replantation.
METHODS: The upper left incisor of 30 adult male Wistar rats was extracted, and the rats were divided into three groups according to the storage medium of the extracted tooth for replantation: Hank's balanced salt solution (HB

Management of tooth avulsion in the permanent dentition often presents a challenge. Definitive treatment planning and consultation with specialists is seldom possible at the time of emergency treatment. Replantation of the avulsed tooth can restore esthetic appearance and occlusal function shortly after the injury. This article describes the management of a child with an avulsed maxillary permanent incisor that had been air-dried for about 18 hours. The replanted incisor retained its esthetic appearance and functionality 2 years after replantation, yet the long-term prognosis is not good becau

BACKGROUND: Avulsion of permanent teeth is the most common in young permanent dentition. Replantation of immature teeth after avulsion represents a major challenge in terms of treatment management and long-term prognosis. This case report describes 9 years of follow-up for an avulsed and replanted immature mandibular lateral incisor with progressive external root resorption.
METHODS: A 7-year-old patient following an accident in which his mandibular left central incisor was avulsed and replanted within one hour after being stored in a physiological storage medium. However, radiographic examin

THE AIM OF THE STUDY: Was to analyze treatment outcomes in children with constant teeth avulsion treated in Central Research Institute of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery (CRIDMS).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study comprised 39 children aged 7-16 years treated in CRIDMS in 2015-2020. In 38 cases from 39 replantation was performed more than 24 hours after trauma. Because of delayed replantation endodontic treatment was needed in 35 cases from 38 (in one case the avulsed tooth was missing). In all 38 cases replantation was followed by splinting with either resin splint made according to origi

A clinical case of exarticulation and replantation served to discuss recent insights regarding the treatment of total avulsions of permanent teeth. A flow chart representing all treatment options is given. The tooth has been replanted in near ideal conditions; within one hour after the avulsion, the young patient attended the dental school with his avulsed tooth stored in milk. After replantation, a very simple splint was applied for only a fortnight and a provisory endodontic therapy with calcium hydroxide was performed. Adequate oral hygiene measures supported with chlorhexidine gel were ins

Tooth exarticulation or avulsion refers to the complete displacement of the tooth out of its socket. It is a complex injury, requiring immediate intervention for optimal results. Literature indicates that prolonged dry time and improper handling may be associated with increased risk of failure. Immediate replantation of the tooth allows for immediate restoration of esthetics and phonetics. This case report presents the management of an avulsed mature tooth in a young boy, with a two-year follow-up, which had been preserved in milk after around 15-20 minutes of injury and transplanted after two

Delayed replantation of an avulsed tooth may result in rapid root resorption or, more frequently, dental ankylosis with subsequent bone substitution. If this process develop slowly, it is possible to observe that tooth loss is characterized by a well conserved alveolus with regard to bone preservation, particularly in vertical dimension. This clinical case reports a dental trauma of a central incisor in a young boy characterized by tooth avulsion and its delayed replantation. After 10 years, dental ankylosis of the incisor was recorded and the patient underwent a prosthetic-orthodontic rehabil

The aim of this paper is to present the clinical and radiological outcome of the treatment involving a delayed tooth replantation after an avulsed immature permanent incisor, with a follow-up of 1 year and 6 months. An 8-year-old boy was referred after dental trauma that occurred on the previous day. The permanent maxillary right central incisor (tooth 11) had been avulsed. The tooth was hand-held during endodontic therapy and an intracanal medication application with calcium hydroxide-based paste was performed. An apical plug with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) was introduced into the apica

Various statistics have shown that avulsion (total displacement of tooth out of its socket) following traumatic injuries is relatively infrequent, ranging from 0.5 to 16% of traumatic injuries in the permanent dentition. The maxillary central incisors are the most frequently avulsed teeth. Avulsion of teeth occurs most often in children from 7 to 9 years of age, when the permanent incisors are erupting. Most frequently, avulsion involves a single tooth; but multiple avulsion are occasionally encountered. Fractures of the alveolar socket wall are often associate with avulsion. After the tooth i
