Compendium of continuing education in dentistry (Jamesburg, N.J. : 1995)2026eng
Increasing occlusal vertical dimension can be critical in the management of severely worn dentition, yet this approach remains controversial due to potential adverse effects. This article presents a comprehensive, digitally driven workflow that integrates aligner therapy to optimize both function and esthetics in an Angle class I patient with severe erosive wear. By leveraging orthodontic pre-alignment, minimally invasive restorative protocols, and advanced visualization tools, a predictable outcome was achieved in a complex full-mouth rehabilitation case.

BACKGROUND: Due to the declining prevalence of dental caries, noncarious tooth defects such as erosive tooth wear have gained increased attention over the past decades. While patients more frequently search the internet for health-related information, the quality of patient-centered, web-based health information on erosive tooth wear is currently unknown.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess the quality of patient-centered, web-based health information (websites and YouTube videos) on erosive tooth wear.
METHODS: German-language websites were systematically identified through 3 electronic s

BACKGROUND: Tooth brushing is a universal recommendation. However, the recommendations related to the time of its execution are conflicting, especially when dealing with patients at risk of erosive tooth wear (ETW) or dental caries.
SUMMARY: Our objective was to summarize the evidence on the timing of brushing with fluoridated toothpaste in relation to ETW and cariogenic dietary challenges. We conducted a scoping review following the PRISMA-ScR checklist, using three databases searching for in vivo, in situ, or in vitro studies involving human teeth exposed to either a cariogenic or an erosiv

INTRODUCTION: Acquired pellicle (AP) acts as a membrane preventing acids from coming into direct contact with the tooth. Possibly, individuals with different dental health status present changes in its composition that could disrupt this function. Thus, the aim of this study was to compare the protein composition of the AP in adolescents with erosive tooth wear (ETW), caries, or sound.
METHODS: Calibrated examiners in BEWE index and ICDAS-merged Epi criteria assessed ETW and caries in a sample of 454 systemically healthy adolescents aged 12-15 years old. Thirty subjects from that sample were

The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and possible etiological factors of erosive tooth wear and wedge-shaped defects in Swiss Army recruits and compare the findings with those of an analogous study conducted in 1996. In 2006, 621 recruits between 18 and 25 years of age (1996: 417 recruits; ages 19 to 25) were examined for erosive tooth wear and wedge-shaped defects. Additional data was acquired using a questionnaire about personal details, education, dentitions subjective condition, oral hygiene, eating and drinking habits, medications used, and general medical problems.

Rehabilitation of posterior erosive tooth wear can be especially challenging in the presence of substantial tooth structure loss and limited inter-occlusal space. This article describes two case reports illustrating a conservative approach using the one-step Dahl approach in the management of localized posterior erosive tooth wear. The occlusal surfaces of worn teeth in both cases were successfully restored using direct composite resin and gold onlay, respectively. The material was placed in supra-occlusion during the initial stage. This technique enables intrusion of affected worn teeth and t

INTRODUCTION: Restrictive type of anorexia nervosa (AN) is still one of the most severe eating disorders worldwide with an uncertain prognosis. Patients affected by AN should be encouraged to undertake psychiatric care and psychotherapy, but whether they should necessarily be included in careful dental care or not may still be questionable. Even though there is a constantly increasing number of AN studies, there are just a few data about the youngest group of AN children and adolescents aged < 18.
METHODOLOGY: This case-control study aimed to compare the dental health and gingival inflammatio
