Differences in pericoronitis knowledge among Chinese undergraduates: a cross-disciplinary survey in Northeastern Universities.

BACKGROUND: Pericoronitis, an inflammation of the gum around a partially erupted third molar (wisdom tooth), frequently affects young adults. Despite its prevalence, the level of awareness and understanding of pericoronitis among undergraduates in various academic fields remains poorly characterized, especially among students outside health-related majors. Improving this knowledge is important to encourage timely care and prevent complications. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in April 2025 among 664 first- and second-year undergraduates from three universities in Northeastern

Are Universities Ready to Support Autistic Students? A Call to Increase Coordinated Campus Efforts.

Over the past decade, universities have seen an increase in autistic student enrollment; however, many of these universities are not supporting autistic students to have a quality college experience. Although more autistic young adults are pursuing college, many do not persist to graduation due to a lack of individualized accommodations, siloed provision of support from universities, and overall hesitancy among faculty, staff, and administration to include autistic students in all campus spaces. In addition, autistic students struggle to build self-advocacy, self-determination, and functional

To our knowledge, there has been no comprehensive review conducted to examine the number of adaptive sport offerings on a collegiate level. OBJECTIVE: Assess the availability of adaptive sport opportunities for students at National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Div

Mental health in American colleges and universities: variation across student subgroups and across campuses.

We estimated the prevalence and correlates of mental health problems among college students in the United States. In 2007 and 2009, we administered online surveys with brief mental health screens to random samples of students at 26 campuses nationwide. We used sample probability weights to adjust for survey nonresponse. A total of 14,175 students completed the survey, corresponding to a 44% participation rate. The prevalence of positive screens was 17.3% for depression, 4.1% for panic disorder, 7.0% for generalized anxiety, 6.3% for suicidal ideation, and 15.3% for nonsuicidal self-injury. Men

However, there is limited insight into mHealth interventions and institutional support for psychological stress driven by demanding curricula and socioeconomic disparities. Digital therapeutics (DTx) offer scalable technology-enabled support for stress management. AIM: This narrative review explores how DTx can complement or enhance existing stress management approaches for health science students in under-resourced South African universities. METHODS: A narrative

Alcohol in Context: Alcohol Experiences Among First-Year Residence-Dwelling Students at Two Canadian Universities.

While extensive research has examined alcohol-related harms in university residences, few studies have explored how specific drinking contexts-such as physical location, policies, and broader socio-cultural factors-shape student alcohol use. This qualitative study utilized semi-structured interviews with 25 first-year residential students and 16 staff across two Canadian universities (University of Calgary, Alberta, and Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia) to investigate how intersecting social, physical, economic, and policy environments contribute to university residences as risk and/or enabli
