Motivations for accepting or refusing Covid-19 vaccination in nursing homes and long-term care centers in France: the Vaccovid-senior study.

Vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 remains the most powerful strategy to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic around the word. Nevertheless, the level of complete vaccination (including all recommended boosters) is not optimal, even in the most vulnerable population, i.e. older adults living in nursing homes (NH) and long-term care units (LTCU). In this context, the understanding of the patients' reluctance to vaccination seems particularly important and our objective was to understand the acceptance or refusal mechanisms of the Covid-19 vaccine among people living in NH and LTCU. Identifying COVID-19 and H1N1 vaccination hesitancy or refusal among health care providers across North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia: a scoping review protocol.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this scoping review is to describe and map the evidence on COVID-19 and H1N1 vaccination hesitancy or refusal among physicians, nurses, and pharmacists across North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia. INTRODUCTION: When global pandemics occur, including the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which originated in 2020, and the swine flu influenza pandemic (H1N1) of 2009, there is increased pressure for pharmaceutical companies and government agencies to develop safe and effective vaccines against these highly contagious illnesses. Following development and ap

Self-reported vaccine hesitancy and refusal among parents of children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental delays: a cross-sectional study.

UNLABELLED: Due to the spread of misinformation that some vaccines cause autism spectrum disorder (ASD), many parents report changes in their vaccination behavior following a diagnosis of ASD, putting their children at increased risk for preventable diseases. Our study aimed to determine the rate of vaccination-related concerns and refusal behaviors in parents of children with ASD and non-autistic developmental delays (non-ASD-DD) and to examine factors potentially associated with vaccine hesitancy and refusal. In our study, a questionnaire was distributed to all parents of children diagnosed

Partisan differences in childhood measles vaccination and general refusals: a retrospective cohort study of electronic health records in the United States, 1988-2024.

BACKGROUND: Vaccination remains one of the most effective public health tools globally. Yet recent years have seen increasing political polarization around vaccination, particularly in the United States, as well as measles outbreaks among unvaccinated children. Using individual-level data, we characterize the national evolution of parental political polarization in childhood vaccination refusal, timely receipt of a child's first measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) dose, and delay in first MMR vaccination. METHODS: In this retrospective cohort study, using electronic health records from a primar

Trends in Vaccine Refusal and Acceptance Using Electronic Health Records from a Large Pediatric Hospital Network, 2013-2020: Strategies for Change.

Understanding trends in vaccine refusal is critical to monitor as small declines in vaccination coverage can lead to outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases. Using electronic heath record (EHR) data from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s 31 outpatient primary care sites, we created a cohort of 403,448 children less than age 20 years who received at least one visit from 1 January 2013 through 31 December 2020. The sample represented 1,449,061 annualized patient and 181,131 annualized preventive vaccination visits per year. We characterized trends in vaccine refusal and acceptance usin

Determinants of vaccine refusal, delay and reluctance in parents of 2-year-old children in Canada: Findings from the 2017 Childhood National Immunization Coverage Survey (cNICS).

Vaccine hesitancy is a barrier to improving childhood vaccination rates in Canada, but the scope of this problem is unclear due to inconsistent measurement of vaccine uptake indicators. Using 2017 data from a Canadian national vaccine coverage survey, this study analyzed the impact of demographics and parental knowledge, attitudes and beliefs (KAB) on vaccine decisions (refusal, delay and reluctance) in parents of 2-year-old children who had received at least one vaccine. The findings show that 16.8% had refused a vaccine, specifically influenza (73%), rotavirus (13%) and varicella (9%); femal

Comparison of Methods for Clustered Data Analysis in a Non-Ideal Situation: Results from an Evaluation of Predictors of Yellow Fever Vaccine Refusal in the Global TravEpiNet (GTEN) Consortium.

Not accounting for clustering in data from multiple centers might yield biased estimates and their standard errors, potentially leading to incorrect inferences. We fit 15 different models with different correlation structures and with/without adjustment for small clusters, including unadjusted logistic regression, Population-averaged models (Generalized Estimating Equations), Cluster-specific models (linear and non-linear with random intercept) and Survey data analysis methods to study the association of variables with the probability of declining yellow fever vaccine among patients seeking pr

Vaccine acceptance and refusal in Western and Central and Eastern European countries: An analysis based on the European Social Survey data from 23 countries, using a classification and regression tree.

This study aims to explore the socio-political and demographic determinants of COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and refusal across Western and Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. While most existing studies treat vaccine hesitancy as a universal phenomenon, our analysis emphasises the role of national and regional contexts. Using data from the 11th round of the European Social Survey (2023-2024), covering 23 European countries and 39,184 respondents, we applied a Classification and Regression Tree model to identify key predictors of vaccination status. The dependent variable was defined a

Institutional drivers of newborn hepatitis B vaccine disparities: A multi-hospital analysis in Washington, DC, 2017-2023.

Despite universal newborn hepatitis B vaccination recommendations, birth dose coverage remains suboptimal with persistent racial disparities. While individual-level factors are well-studied, institutional practices' role in vaccination outcomes remains poorly understood. We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 87,246 singleton births across eight Washington, DC hospitals from 2017-2023, using multilevel mixed-effects logistic regression to examine institutional disparities in vaccine refusal. Overall refusal rate was 6.7%, declining from 12.1% in 2017 to 3.5% in 2023. Hospital-specific ra

Family Structure Associated with Measles-Rubella and Varicella Vaccination in Children.

BACKGROUND: Delayed vaccination is a well-studied and critical public health issue. However, limited studies have explored whether familial factors influence vaccination delay. This study aimed to determine whether family structure and comorbidities affect the refusal or delayed receipt of measles-rubella and varicella vaccines. METHODS: We gathered data on all children from birth to 13 months of age between 2006 and 2020 using vaccination records linked with the administrative healthcare claims data from a Japanese city. Seasonal influenza vaccination among homebound elderly receiving home-based primary care in New York City.

Seasonal influenza vaccination is recommended for all persons aged ≥50 years to reduce influenza related morbidity and mortality, but vaccination coverage among community-dwelling elderly remains low. Homebound elderly receiving home-based primary care (HBPC) have fewer barriers to vaccination than other community-dwelling elderly. The Mount Sinai Visiting Doctors (MSVD) program provides HBPC to homebound elderly in New York City. This study assessed seasonal influenza vaccination coverage within an urban HBPC program and identified factors associated with vaccine refusal. A cross-sectional an

Willingness to accept the HBV vaccine and related factors: Administering the vaccination attitudes examination scale to Urban Vietnamese adults.

Vietnam has low hepatitis B vaccination coverage among adults, posing a threat to the healthcare system. To mitigate negative impacts, it is essential to identify vaccine hesitancy and refusal levels and their sociodemographic correlates. We conducted a cross-sectional survey of 926 adults in Ho Chi Minh City (January-March 2025) using a self-administered questionnaire and the Vaccination Attitudes Examination (VAX) scale. Descriptive analysis was performed, and associations between variables were explored using a chi-square test. Multinomial logistic regression identified correlates of vaccin

COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in a representative working-age population in France: a survey experiment based on vaccine characteristics.

BACKGROUND: Opinion polls on vaccination intentions suggest that COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy is increasing worldwide; however, the usefulness of opinion polls to prepare mass vaccination campaigns for specific new vaccines and to estimate acceptance in a country's population is limited. We therefore aimed to assess the effects of vaccine characteristics, information on herd immunity, and general practitioner (GP) recommendation on vaccine hesitancy in a representative working-age population in France. METHODS: In this survey experiment, adults aged 18-64 years residing in France, with no histo
