There are fewer than 100 documented cases of transanal small bowel evisceration in the literature. We report two cases of this rare surgical emergency in an 84-year old man and a 79-year old woman. Both patients required urgent laparotomy, resection of ischaemic bowel and transabdominal resection of the rectal defect with colostomy. Postoperative recovery was uneventful. Rare imaging and clinical photography are shared to highlight the extreme nature of this condition. We identified 38 relevant cases of reported bowel evisceration through our literature review. We present a case of a 26-year-old woman with a small bowel herniating from her vagina following traumatic injury from a road traffic accident. The patient was taken immediately to operating theatre for repair of her uterine defect and small bowel resection. The patient required eventual return to theatre for subtotal hysterectomy and recovered well after her surgeries. She was discharged home without any further complications and in good condition.

Splenoptosis which is a congenital fusion anomaly of dorsal mesogastrium in children is a very rare entity. In the literature cases are usually diagnosed at operation and it is noted that in former years splenectomy had a special place among various methods of treatment. In this report, a 7-year-old case of splenoptosis diagnosed on ultrasonography and isotope scintigraphic methods preoperatively and treated by splenopexy is presented. In cases with splenoptosis the clinical and radiologic diagnostic criteria are given and the importance of splenopexy in treatment is emphasized.

BACKGROUND: Celiac artery stenosis (CAS) may be caused by atherosclerotic degeneration or compression exerted by the arched ligament of the diaphragm. Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is the most common valvular disorder. There are no reports on an association between CAS and MVP.
METHODS: 1560 (41%) out of 3780 consecutive patients undergoing echocardiographic assessment of MVP, had Doppler sonography of the celiac tract to detect CAS.

The influence of postural changes on renal function was determined in 13 patients with nephroptosis and in 5 normal subjects by measuring GFR in the erect and supine positions.
