A case of intimate partner violence (IPV) with vaginal insertion of an irritant foreign body, chili pod of Capsicum annum, in a 36-year-old woman. She presented with severe burning sensation in the lower abdomen and vulva. This highlights the unique role of gynecologists in the recognition and treatment of IPV.

To our knowledge, there are only a few published cases of ureteral injuries secondary to urethral catheterization. We present a case of a ureteral rupture that occurred by placement of a standard 16-Fr urethral catheter. The ureteral injury was identified by computed tomography of the abdomen and pelvis and managed with ureteroureteral anastamosis.

Primary epiploic appendagitis are considered to be a rare cause of acute abdomen. They are frequently misdiagnosed as either acute appendicitis or acute diverticulitis and the diagnosis is usually made during surgery. We report a case in which computed tomography (CT) suggested the diagnosis and helped in avoiding unnecessary surgery.

A retrospective study of 32 patients managed for cow gore injuries. The abdomen was involved in 16 (50%) patients, scrotum in six (18.9%), neck in three (9.3%) and other sites in seven (22.8%). All injuries were penetrating in nature and laparotomy was done on 17 (53%) patients.

The clinico-pathological features of 133 consecutive cases of Henoch-Schönlein purpura are presented, with emphasis on the gastrointestinal manifestations. A huge pancreatic pseudocyst which nearly filled the entire abdomen ruptured into the sigmoid colon, and caused perplexing clinical and radiographic findings. Because of the thickness of its wall, the pseudocyst did not collapse but became filled with intestinal gas. The more common features of pseudocysts that rupture are discussed.

We present a case of evisceration of the stomach, small bowel, and colon through an old incisional hernia in a 75-year old woman following blunt automobile trauma to the abdomen. Following routine surgical closure and debridement of excess skin the patient recovered uneventfully with no recurrence of the hernia.
