Bidirectional Predictors Between Neurobehavioural Measures During Total Sleep Deprivation and Baseline and Recovery Sleep Measures.

For the first time, we examined bidirectional predictors between baseline night (B2) and recovery night 1 (R1) actigraphic sleep measures and neurobehavioural indices during total sleep deprivation (TSD) in a 5-day experiment with 32 healthy adults. During the B2 and R1 nights, wrist actigraphy assessed sleep indices. Neurobehavioural measures were collected during B2 daytime and TSD. Simple linear regression assessed bidirectional predictors between B2 and R1 night sleep measures and TSD neurobehavioural measures. We found greater B2 sleep efficiency predicted lower TSD Karolinska Sleepiness

Enumeration of various Ayurvedic formulations listed in an ancient palm-leaf manuscript of Rayalaseema region in Andhra Pradesh state, India.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Ancient India relied on manuscripts written by scholars for storing, transferring and retrieving the information pertaining to culture, traditions, religion, geography and political issues. Similarly, Ayurveda, an ancient human health care management system in India and most of its information is available through palm-leaf manuscripts. Though each palm-leaf can persist for a fairly long time, it suffers gradual deterioration owing to physical, chemincal and biological factors, thus warranting digitiation. The palm-leaf manuscripts of Ayurveda are extensively st

Improving clinical research through better use of clinical trial registry data.

Clinical trials are crucial for evidence generation on medicines. As of June, 2025, the European Union's (EU) clinical trial registries (Clinical Trial Information System and European Clinical Trial Register) housed data on nearly 55 000 clinical trials. The full potential of these data, especially when integrated with other sources such as real-world data, has remained mostly untapped for wider health-care innovation. In this Viewpoint, we report on the outcomes of an exploratory workshop with key stakeholders from across clinical research, held in Jan 25 and 26, 2024 under the Accelerating C

Between-visit care represents a substantial and underrecognized component of health care utilization in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease.

BACKGROUND: Children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) require substantial health care engagement, yet traditional utilization metrics underestimate the scope of care by omitting between-visit clinical activity such as electronic messaging, telephone encounters, and results review. Pediatric-specific data describing this hidden workload remain limited. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective longitudinal cohort study of youth aged 0 to 22 years diagnosed with IBD between 2015 and 2024 at a tertiary care center. Eligible patients had ≥ 6 months of primary care prior to diagnosis and ≥ 6 mont

Rethinking success in public health education and promotion: a narrative ownership framework for sustainable health behavior change.

Public health education and promotion has largely evaluated success in terms of measurable behavioral outcomes. While this outcome-centered logic has advanced intervention science, behavior change is frequently not sustained once programs end, and outcome indicators alone cannot show how change is experienced, interpreted, and held over time. The objective of this paper is to advance and operationalize the hypothesis that outcome-only definitions of success are epistemologically incomplete and ethically fragile. We proceed conceptually, identifying two structural limitations of outcome-centere

Learning from Ebola Alerts in the Pandemic Agreement Era: Preparedness, Trust, and Shared Responsibility.

Ebola alerts reveal the truth about preparedness. They show whether a health system can recognize danger early, protect health workers, isolate and care for patients, trace contacts, communicate clearly, and sustain public trust before fear replaces cooperation. In the Pandemic Agreement Era, this truth has become harder to ignore. The 2026 Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda is a sharp reminder that the principles of pandemic prevention, preparedness, response, equity, and cooperation become meaningful only when they work where the first cases
