We report the results of indirect immunofluorescent (IFI) detection of IgA and IgG antireticulin antibodies (IgA-ARA and IgG-ARA, respectively) in 283 serum samples from pediatric patients with coeliac disease (with and without gluten containing diets), patients with non-coeliac gastrointestinal disease, patients without gastrointestinal disease (control group) and patients with an increased risk for coeliac disease (diabetes mellitus, dermatitis herpetiformis or first grade relatives of coeliac patients). We studied 7 patients with primary antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), who had had, between them, 28 fetal losses in 30 pregnancies. The 2 successful pregnancies had occurred 14 years previously. Entamoeba histolytica (EH) specific IgM was measured in 54 patients with diagnosed amoebic liver abscess (ALA), 13 with non-suppurative hepatic amoebiasis (NSHA) and 50 controls. We used flow cytometry to explore the relationship between platelet volume and anti-platelet autoantibodies in 71 patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Hyperimmune horse anti-bothropic serum, used in serum therapy, was analyzed for its IgGT content and protective ability. IgGT was isolated through a combination of salt-mediated hydrophobic chromatography and protein A affinity chromatography. The chromatographic fractions obtained were analyzed with regard to their isotype content and protective ability. The results suggest that the protective ability of hyperimmune anti-venom serum is located mainly in the IgGT subclass.

Acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans (ACA) and morphea are clinically distinct skin diseases with some common features and possible coexistence. The results obtained in the analysis of 130 thrombocytopenic patients with a radioimmunoassay (RIA) for platelet-associated IgG (PA-IgG) and the platelet suspension immunofluorescence test (PIFT) were compared.
