Hepatocellular carcinoma rarely metastasizes to the brain or orbit. We report 3 clinically manifest examples, one of which occurred in a 13-yr-old boy. In 2 cases the intracranial metastasis was the initial presenting lesion. The 2 cases of brain metastasis both presented with intracerebral hemorrhage. Light microscopic examination of these tumors revealed a trabecular hepatocellular carcinoma of Edmondson grade II with focal hemorrhage and necrosis. Keratinocytes from patients with different types of epidermolysis bullosa (EB) demonstrated an abnormal tendency to blister or bleb formation after 14-22 days in culture. The changes were most marked in samples from cases of junctional EB and were not observed in control cultures of normal skin. These findings suggest the possibility of a primary abnormality of keratinocyte adhesion in different varieties of EB and that keratinocyte culture should provide a useful model for further studies on disorders of adhesion in EB.

Cyclic AMP levels have been determined for the first time in isolated keratinocytes. Values were more reproducible than those reported using epidermal slices. We reported a 52-year-old man with thymus nonkeratinized squamous carcinoma presenting with acute superior vena cava syndrome (SVCS) who received 177 Lu-FAP-2286 treatment and followed by low-dose chemotherapy. 68 Ga-FAP-2286 PET/CT revealed significantly less intensity of the mediastinal mass comparing to pretherapy scan, as well as significant relief of SVCS.
