OBJECTIVES: The object of the study is to experimentally investigate the possible systemic side effects of Oxymetazoline including its nasal spray which has been in use for a long time both by the physicians and patients. Lymphoepithelial carcinoma (LEC) is a rare malignancy. Histologically, it is an undifferentiated carcinoma with an intermixed reactive lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate. Though classics clearly mention yogya (arha), ayogya (anarha) criteria for Nasya karma some complications were noticed while practicing. In KLEUS Shri BMK Ayurveda Hospital Belgaum, out of 2867 patients 58 (0.58%) cases reported various complications during and after Nasya karma in the year of 2011 even after taking utmost care in selection of patients as well as drugs. A Song's nasolacrimal duct stent was placed in a patient with epiphora due to primary nasolacrimal duct obstruction and the stent was kept for 32 months. Mitomycin C 0.02% eye drops four times a day were prescribed for four weeks following polyurethane stent placement procedure. No epiphora-related complaints occurred for thirty months after then the epiphora started.
