BACKGROUND: Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), which includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, is a chronic disease that requires long-term, coordinated management. Although nurse-led care is a pivotal element of effective IBD management through specific interventions, a comprehensive synthesis of its overall impact is lacking in the literature. AIM: To review systematically and synthesize evidence on the effectiveness of nurse-led care compared to usual care for individuals with IBD. METHODS: A systematic search of PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and Embase was conduct

OBJECTIVE: Established perioperative and nursing theories provide foundations for patient safety, adaptation, caring, communication, and professional practice. This study aimed to develop a context-specific operational framework that applies and specifies these concepts for 5G-enabled cross-regional remote surgery, particularly in relation to technology-mediated care, distributed collaboration, and adaptive nursing capacity.
METHODS: This mixed-methods study combined a systematic literature review (four databases; topic search, January 2000-July 2025; foundational theory searches unrestricted

BACKGROUND: The enactment of the Korean Nursing Act emerged through a prolonged and conflict-laden policy process shaped by workforce instability, interprofessional conflict, and changing political conditions within the Korean healthcare system. Recent healthcare crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2024 healthcare service vacuum, further intensified policy attention toward nursing workforce governance and healthcare system sustainability.
AIM: This study examines the legislative trajectory and postenactment policy developments of the Korean Nursing Act between 2005 and 2025 throug

Providing high-quality care for nursing home residents with dementia is challenging due to staff turnover and complex care needs. This paper examines what constitutes 'good' days for residents, families, and staff. Guided by Gitlin's "Good Life" model, we conducted 46 telephone interviews with 11 residents with dementia, 19 family members, and 16 staff from seven nursing homes. Family or staff assisted residents during interviews. Data were analyzed thematically. Residents described better days as those with consistent daily routines and meaningful social interactions, particularly with staff.

BACKGROUND: Caring behaviours constitute one of the most visible ways in which "caring" is translated into everyday nursing practice, yet the field has become increasingly heterogeneous across settings, outcomes, and conceptual traditions. A field-level map is therefore needed to clarify how the literature has evolved and where it is currently concentrating.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to bibliometrically map the literature on caring behaviours in nursing, focusing on global research trends, thematic development, collaboration networks, citation performance, and the field's intellectual struc

BACKGROUND: Academic and clinical dishonesty remain persistent concerns in nursing education. While both have been widely studied, it is unclear whether they are empirically associated in a consistent manner or represent distinct behaviors shaped by different contexts. This systematic review examines whether academic and clinical dishonesty are empirically and conceptually associated among nursing students and under what conditions such links occur.
METHODS: Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines and PROSPERO protocol, six databases were systematically searched for peer-reviewed empirical studies (

BACKGROUND: Oral health multidisciplinary team (OHMDT) care places nurses in a coordinating role across specialties, but the absence of a context-specific assessment tool limits training evaluation, competency benchmarking, and quality improvement. This study aimed to develop and preliminarily validate an OHMDT nurse competency scale.
METHODS: We conducted a mixed-methods instrument-development study with two phases. First, an item pool derived from a systematic literature review was refined through two Delphi rounds with a multidisciplinary expert panel (n = 16). Second, a cross-sectional su

BACKGROUND: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathways have been adapted for open and lower extremity vascular surgery and increasingly guide perioperative care for older adults. However, little is known about how perioperative nurses implement ERAS-consistent and geriatric-focused practices for older patients undergoing open and hybrid aortic procedures, particularly in hybrid operating room settings and in Chinese hospitals, where pathway maturity and geriatric integration may vary across centres.
PURPOSE: To describe perioperative nurses' implementation of ERAS-consistent and geriatri

PURPOSE: Nurse practitioners (NPs) were introduced in Japan to reduce physicians' workloads through task shifting. Three cardiac surgical NPs (CSNPs) were employed in our department. This study aimed to describe their clinical practices and evaluate their contributions to task shifting.
METHODS: We reviewed the medical records of patients treated between January 2019 and December 2024. Three analyses were conducted: (I) quantification of medical procedures performed by CSNPs, (II) assessment of CSNP participation as surgical assistants, and (III) evaluation of delegated medical order entries.

BACKGROUND: The number of older adults being discharged to a skilled nursing facility (SNF) after surgery continues to rise. Prior studies have shown that gabapentinoid prescribing after surgery is increasing, though this work only studied patients transitioning from hospital to home. Therefore, we aim to describe both use and prolonged use of gabapentinoids for older adults who are discharged to SNF and then home after surgery.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis by merging patient data from Medicare Carrier, MedPAR, and Outpatient Files with Medicare Part D for 2013-2020. We incl

IMPORTANCE: Skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) are the primary provider of institutional postacute care. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been reports of SNFs reducing their capacity, affecting access to care and disrupting hospital discharges, yet little empirical evidence exists.
OBJECTIVE: To describe changes in SNF capacity after 2020 and assess whether changes were associated with staffing shortages and hospital discharge outcomes.
DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: In this cross-sectional study, data from the 2018-2024 Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Payroll-Based Jo

This article presents a standardized, evidence-informed nursing protocol for point-of-care ultrasound-guided assessment of arteriovenous fistula (AVF) maturation in adult patients undergoing hemodialysis. The protocol translates current best evidence into a reproducible, step-by-step method to support safe, accurate, and consistent bedside surveillance by trained nurses. It is structured using an operational adaptation of the Indication-Acquisition-Interpretation-Nursing Decision-Making framework to guide clinical reasoning and ultrasound-based evaluation. The protocol details patient position
