INTRODUCTION: Malaria is a parasitic disease caused by Plasmodium parasite and transmitted to humans by infected female Anopheles mosquito. Several studies have explored community knowledge of malaria. However, despite the remarkable proportions of asymptomatic malaria, its awareness remains relatively understudied among the affected communities. Hence, this study aimed to determine the proportion of people with knowledge of asymptomatic malaria in endemic countries and describe their perspective towards malaria control interventions. The findings from this study could contribute to developing

BACKGROUND: Long-acting injectable Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), particularly cabotegravir, presents a promising HIV prevention option in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), where HIV prevalence remains high. As frontline providers, healthcare workers (HCWs) are central to PrEP delivery. Given the emerging introduction of injectable PrEP in SSA, this review examines HCW perspectives on PrEP delivery broadly, including both oral and injectable formulations, with particular attention to how oral PrEP implementation experiences inform injectable PrEP readiness.

BACKGROUND: Repetitive negative thinking (RNT) is characterized by its persistence, difficulty in control, and the tendency to focus on negative thoughts and past events. It is recognized as a key factor in the development and maintenance of mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. A growing body of research suggests that physical activity-based interventions may effectively reduce RNT. However, the extent of this effect and the mechanisms behind it remain inconsistent across studies.
METHODS: This systematic review synthesized evidence from 19 peer-reviewed studies retrieved from

BACKGROUND: Opioid use disorder (OUD) during pregnancy has increased dramatically, paralleling epidemic trends in the general population. Pregnant women with OUD face considerable risks of adverse outcomes. While medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) is the mainstay of treatment, substantial barriers limit its implementation. Despite the critical need for effective interventions, a comprehensive synthesis of the challenges to MOUD during pregnancy remains lacking. This review examines these barriers to improve treatment access and outcomes for this vulnerable population.

BACKGROUND: New digital health services are continuously developed, implemented, tested, and refined to meet diverse health and system needs. With the rise in non-communicable diseases, these services are increasingly integrated into care processes. However, the effectiveness of digital health services varies across time and settings, highlighting the need to evaluate their effectiveness longitudinally and in specific settings.
OBJECTIVE: To synthesize current evidence from meta-analyses on the effectiveness of digital health services in non-communicable diseases.
DESIGN: Umbrella review.

BACKGROUND: Menstruation involve intricate physiological, social, cultural, religious, and psychological factors that deeply impact women and girls globally. Disparities in access to menstrual products, facilities, information, and social support are evident between high-income countries (HICs) and low-income countries (LICs). Female athletes in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) encounter distinct challenges due to limited research on the significant effects of menstruation on their daily lives as well as athletic performance. This scoping review investigates existing research on menstr

Food insecurity remains a persistent and inequitable public health issue in the United States, disproportionately affecting low-income households, communities of color, and rural populations. Despite an abundant national food supply, systemic barriers to accessing nutritious food continue to undermine health equity. As food insecurity rates climb in the postpandemic period and the 2025 Farm Bill was recently reauthorized, this policy moment presents a critical opportunity to reassess the United States' food system. This narrative review synthesizes recent literature at the intersection of food

BACKGROUND: In vitro fertilization (IVF) is an increasingly common method of assisted reproduction given the high rates of infertility in the United States (U.S.). However, despite growing utilization of IVF technologies, there is little known about the experiences of those accessing or undergoing IVF, particularly among adults in the U.S. The aims of this review are to (1) explore how economic, emotional and physical health, and interpersonal relationships impact and are impacted by accessing or undergoing IVF, and (2) understand the role of healthcare providers and the healthcare system.

BACKGROUND: Antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) serve as crucial biomarkers for diagnosing systemic autoimmune diseases; however, their interpretation can be complex and may not always correlate with clinical symptoms.
METHODS: A comprehensive narrative review was conducted to evaluate the peer-reviewed literature published between 1961 and 2025. Databases, including PubMed and Scopus, were searched using combinations of controlled vocabulary and free-text terms relating to antinuclear antibodies and their clinical significance. The objective was to gather and synthesize information regarding the d

INTRODUCTION: Patients receiving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for severe acute respiratory failure (SARF) often experience significant challenges with airway clearance due to disease severity, ultra-protective ventilation strategies and suppression of mucociliary and cough mechanisms. Extremely low tidal volumes and minimal flow rates further hinder secretion mobilisation. Despite increasing global use of ECMO, there is currently no synthesis of evidence describing airway clearance practices, their physiological rationale or outcomes in this population. This scoping review aims to

BACKGROUND: Cholera is a life-threatening disease caused by ingesting food or water contaminated with V. cholerae. Armed conflicts disrupt healthcare infrastructure, limit access to clean water, and exacerbate population displacement, leading to increased vulnerability to cholera outbreaks. This scoping review aims to assess cholera control strategies in conflict settings in Africa and the Middle East, with the goal of identifying effective and feasible interventions.

INTRODUCTION: Caregiver burden is a significant issue in the care of patients with advanced kidney disease. Its assessment is crucial for evaluating the needs of caregivers and for the development of interventions to support them. Several instruments have been developed to measure caregiver burden in these patients. However, the measurement properties of these instruments have not been systematically reviewed.
METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This systematic review will include a comprehensive search of databases including PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, Cochrane Library, SCOPUS and Web of Science by using keyw

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Since the COVID-19 outbreak, people's habits changed radically. In fact, to limit the spread of SARS-CoV-2, governments implemented restrictive measures that influenced the lives of individuals. The aim of this systematic review is to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on gambling by examining three different outcomes: frequency, expenditure, and transition among possible types of gambling.
METHODS: All studies assessing the impact of restrictive measures implemented to limit the spread of SARS-CoV-2 on gambling were included. For the search, two different databases were used

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Globally, harmful substance use is among the leading causes of premature deaths in the general population, and most of these behaviours are initiated during pre-adolescence to young adulthood. Preventing the onset or reducing the prevalence of substance use among young people is thus a global health priority. Diverse school-based interventions have been implemented in low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs); however, evidence regarding their theoretical underpinnings and core components is lacking. The aim of this scoping review was to identify the underlying (social/behavi

INTRODUCTION: Research quality within the neurosurgical field remains suboptimal. Therefore, many studies published in the neurosurgical literature lack enough statistical power to establish the presence or absence of clinically important differences between treatment arms. The field of neurotrauma deals with additional challenges, with fewer financial incentives and restricted resources in low-income and middle-income countries with the highest burden of neurotrauma diseases. In this systematic review, we aim to estimate the prevalence of false claims of equivalence in the neurosurgical traum

OBJECTIVE: The review involves the assessment of morphological variations in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and its associated structures in patients with temporomandibular disorder.
INTRODUCTION: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are debilitating conditions that affect the TMJ complex, surrounding musculature and osseous components. Studies have reported that TMD result from morphological alterations in TMJ. These alterations can be efficiently studied using three-dimensional imaging. This review will summarise the morphological changes in TMJ and associated structures based on studies wi

PURPOSE: Globally millions of children have a parent who is imprisoned. Research suggests that this has an adverse impact on the child and imprisonment of a parent is considered to be an adverse childhood experience (ACE). Parental incarceration will not only affect the child but the entire household and may result in further ACEs such as household dysfunction and parental separation making this group of children particularly vulnerable. This scoping review aims to adopt an international perspective to comprehensively examine the extent range and nature of literature both published and grey re

INTRODUCTION: Guidelines recommend clozapine for treatment-resistant schizophrenia. However, meta-analysis of aggregate data (AD) did not demonstrate higher efficacy of clozapine compared with other second-generation antipsychotics but found substantial heterogeneity between trials and variation between participants in treatment effects. Therefore, we will conduct an individual participant data (IPD) meta-analysis to estimate the efficacy of clozapine compared with other second-generation antipsychotics while accounting for potentially important effect modifiers.
