The article describes on the basis of the authors' own 12 cases the typical CT pattern of mucoceles of the paranasal sinuses--intrasinusoidal space-occupying growths with central density values of 20-25 HE, expansive displacement of the adjacent walls. Attention is drawn to the special factors due to the localization, which are different for various paranasal sinuses. Conventional tomography can be omitted in future.

The article reports on the findings obtained in 56 serial phlebographies of the upper extremity. Using 17 phlebographies without pathological findings as basis, the physiological phenomena of venous contrasting in the region of the shoulder and arm are examined. The remaining phlebograms with pathological findings are assessed according to different criteria, such as localisation and extent of venous vascular occlusion, visualisation of vascular clot and formation of collaterals resulting in collateral circulation.

Three patients are demonstrated suffering from systemic mastocytosis with skin and skeletal involvement. History, clinical and radiological results are reported. After a brief analysis of the pathogenetic mechanism, the radiological findings on the skeletal system in systemic mastocytosis are discussed. Finally, roentgenological differential diagnosis of the osseous lesions is explained.

A bilateral aplasia of the dorsal arches of the atlas with persisting tuberculum posterius has been observed by the authors. Since the patient had suffered a severe cranio-cerebral trauma, it became necessary to exclude a possible fracture by differential diagnosis. This was possible by means of CT and conventional x-ray diagnosis. According to the classification of dorsal atlas arch aplasia by von Torklus and Gehle (1975) into 6 types, the diagnosis was, in the case under report, Keller's type of aplasia of the arch of the atlas.

The effect of glucagon on the stomach, pylorus and duodenum was evaluated within the first 30 minutes p.i. Glucagon was administered intravenously in a dose of 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 1 mg. The hypotonic effect was greater on the duodenum than on the stomach. The dose response of the pylorus was not uniform. It was possible to point out a direct relationship between the intensity and duration of the hypotonic effect and the administered dosage.

A genuine trauma, which had been overlooked at first, resulted in macrohaematuria. Infusion urography showed an enlarged left kidney with delayed and incomplete visualisation of the renal pelvis. Angiography showed swelling of the left kidney and small arterial ruptures with pseudoaneurysmatic contrast medium deposits in the parenchyma. It is shown that radioactive iodine therapy is an alternative method in the treatment even of large goitres provided this method of treatment is confined to patients beyond the age of 40. If the patient is generally inoperable, this is in fact the method of choice. The success rate can be compared with that of other methods of treatment. In this connection, special attention is drawn to the high rate of alleviation of complaints. No significant side effects are seen; in a few cases only, treatment will have to be repeated.

If the biliary tract is well seen, but the gallbladder remains unvisualized, one may conclude an obstruction of the gallbladder duct. The author shows by means of 108 cases, confirmed by surgery, that operation is indicated if the duct of the gallbladder is obstructed: Although mechanical obstruction of the cystic duct with a calculus was seen in only 10 cases (9,2%) at the time of operation, calculi were found in 101 patients (93%) in the biliary tract system, presenting with cholecystitis and mucosal oedema.
