Physical Therapist Assessed Initial Lower Back Pain: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Treatment of patients with low back pain (LBP) amenable to improvement through physical therapy usually follows one of two pathways. The first is primary-care provider and nursing evaluation, often with imaging, pain medication, and a frequently delayed physical therapy referral. The second is a multi-disciplinary approach of embedding a physical therapist to assist with evaluations and active physical therapy treatment as early as possible. The present study compares the results of the first instance of LBP for the traditional pathway to the early physical therapy pathway for patients of the

The role of physical exercise in modulating microRNAs expression in acute myocardial infarction: a review.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as promising tools for diagnosis and treatment in numerous pathophysiological processes, including cardiovascular diseases (CVD). In this context, acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is one of the leading causes of death by CVD worldwide. In this sense, physical exercise (PE) is considered a non-pharmacological strategy to reduce the complex alterations in AMI. This study is an integrative review of the literature to explore the effects of PE on the cardiomyocyte post-AMI, including an understanding of the mechanisms by which the PE acts on the miRNAs expression.

Application of stellate ganglion modulation in mental disorders and the future prospects of physical therapies.

The treatment of mental disorders faces significant challenges due to their complex etiology and the limitations of existing therapies. Neuromodulation has emerged as a promising approach for managing these conditions. Among the various neuromodulatory strategies, stellate ganglion modulation (SGM) specifically targets the sympathetic nervous system by inhibiting neural activity at the cervical stellate ganglion (SG). Stellate ganglion block (SGB), a chemical form of SGM achieved through local anesthetic injection into the SG, suppresses sympathetic nerve impulses to the head, neck, and upper

Brisement Injection with Physical Therapy: A Novel Approach to Managing Glenohumeral Joint Osteoarthritis.

Glenohumeral osteoarthritis (GHOA) presents significant challenges for patients, often resulting in debilitating pain, stiffness, and progressive loss of function. While conventional non-operative treatments such as physical therapy, medications, and corticosteroid injections can provide relief, their benefits may diminish over time. For many patients, total shoulder arthroplasty may not be a viable option due to associated risks or the demands of an extensive recovery process. This leaves a critical need for alternative innovative and effective treatment options. The synergistic pairing of br

Mild Benign Paroxysmal Torticollis-A Case Report from Physical Therapy Settings.

Benign paroxysmal torticollis (BPT) is a condition characterized by episodes of alternating head tilt in infants. Mild cases may be mistaken for Congenital Muscular Torticollis, potentially leading to unnecessary treatment. This case report describes an infant with suspected mild BPT who exhibited alternating head tilt and colic but demonstrated normal motor development. The head tilt resolved spontaneously without intervention. Physical therapists should be aware of mild benign paroxysmal torticollis and monitor such cases carefully to differentiate it from other forms of torticollis and to p

The importance of multiple Z- plasty- assisted physical therapy in the treatment of Dupuytren's contracture.

BACKGROUND: The palmar aponeurosis is extremely adherent to the skin above it. Many of the pre-tendinous coarse fibers enter the dermis at an angle, not just in the palmar creases but also throughout the palm. It's difficult to distinguish whether Dupuytren's illness starts in the skin's dermis or the palmar aponeurosis since the skin adheres so closely to the palmar fascia. In this work, we have investigated the clinical and histological origins of Dupuytren's disease, as well as its impact on the disease's management. METHODS: A clinical prospective study was conducted on 47 patients, 42 ma

Sarcomatoid transformation of uterine myoma identified through physical examination: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Uterine myomas are the most common benign tumors in the female reproductive system. The incidence of malignant transformation within a uterine myoma is low, but once it occurs, the prognosis is usually poor. The clinical symptoms of this disease are not specific, which can easily lead to misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis. Therefore, early diagnosis and timely treatment are crucial for improving the prognosis of patients. CASE PRESENTATION: A 58-year-old married Chinese female patient had undergone annual check-ups at our hospital from 2007 to 2024, totaling 18 visits. During her in

A bio-adaptive physical hydrogel enables dynamic tissue engineering for tracheal reconstruction.

Organ functionalization is inherently complex and dynamic, involving multilayered tissue structures and continuous cellular remodeling. To address the clinical need for long-segment tracheal reconstruction, we propose a dynamic tissue engineering (DTE) strategy using a bio-adaptive physical hydrogel (BP-Gel) to emulate native tracheal development and enable dynamic regeneration of key tissue components. Here we show that chondrocytes cultured within BP-Gel form cartilage rings through an embryo-like chondrification process, during which the gel's percolation network adapts to cell migration an
