Pregnancy prevention among urban adolescents younger than 15: results of the 'In Your Face' program.

Data from a pregnancy prevention program operating through school-based clinics in four New York City junior high schools suggest that an intensive risk-identification and case-management approach may be effective among very young adolescents. Among students given a referral to a family planning clinic for contraception, the proportion who visited the clinic and obtained a method rose from 11% in the year before the program began to 76% in the program's third year. Pregnancy rates among teenagers younger than 15 decreased by 34% over four years in the program schools. In the fourth year of the

Mobilizing affect: a possible effect of day hospital treatment for chronic psychiatric patients.

A study of 82 Psychiatric Day Hospital patients was undertaken to identify the program's specific effects on individuals with longer standing (i.e., chronic) psychiatric disability. Sociodemographic information and self-ratings, staff ratings and significant-other ratings were used to identify changes in functioning during the 3-week treatment as well as during the period 3 months after treatment. Findings suggest (1) that the Day Hospital patients were as seriously psychiatrically impaired as psychiatric inpatients, (2) that, as a group, they demonstrated a significant improvement in symptoms

A pelvic health eRehabilitation program to address urogenital impairments after breast and gynecologic cancer: A proof-of-concept study protocol.

BACKGROUND: Incontinence and vulvar pain are common urogenital dysfunctions after breast and gynecological cancers (BGCs). Recent evidence suggests that pelvic health physiotherapy can improve these dysfunctions and enhance quality of survivorship, but several barriers limit access to such care. Virtual programs are proposed as a strategy to improve access. AIM: The main aim of this proof-of-concept study is to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of the newly designed Pelvic Health eRehabilitation Program in people treated for BGCs. The study also aims to explore the preliminary effect

Skype Supervised, Individualized, Home-Based Rehabilitation Programs for Individuals With Rett Syndrome and Their Families - Parental Satisfaction and Point of View.

Individuals with Rett syndrome (RTT) experience impaired gross motor skills limiting their capacity. Therefore, they need support to participate in physical activities, and it is crucial to work with primary caregivers when developing appropriate strategies, thereby leading to an active lifestyle. There is limited evidence supporting the effectiveness of remotely supported physical activity interventions. This project aimed to evaluate the effects of a skype-based, telehealth-delivered physical activity program carried out by participants' parents at home. This article will focus on parental p

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

One of the cornerstones of treatment after acute coronary syndromes is cardiac rehabilitation (CR). However, traditional CR remains underused in the United States due to comorbidities and geographical limitations. To evaluate feasibility and safety of our individually tailored CR program, we evaluated twelve weeks of tele-monitored home-based arm ergometer and weight training exercises in seven Veterans. Prior to beginning our CR program, all Veterans underwent an arm ergometer stress test and training in the proper techniques for arm exercises and weight training. Seattle Angina Questionnaire

An evidence-based walking program among older people with knee osteoarthritis: the PEP (participant exercise preference) pilot randomized controlled trial.

Knee osteoarthritis is a common joint problem leading to an increase of pain and a loss of function in older individuals. The main objective of this study was to evaluate if a participant who was randomly assigned to his preferred group improved his adherence to an effective walking program compared to a participant who did not receive his preferred group. This was a 9-month pilot randomized clinical trial, based on a patient treatment preferences design. The 69 eligible participants had a diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis. Participants were randomized to one of two groups: a supervised communi

For prevention of the aggravation of diabetic nephropathy, a treatment method that combines self-care with medical guidance is becoming increasingly important, leading to the development of programs for lifestyle modification for the patients. To assess the effectiveness of such programs, we have conducted a feasibility study of a patient self-care support program with medical collaboration by registered pharmacists in community pharmacies involving patients with diabetic nephropathy who are under treatment at medical institutions, including our hospital. This study evaluated the two primary m
