Validation of the Personality Disorder Severity for ICD-11 (PDS-ICD-11) Scale in a Danish Mixed Clinical and Prison Treatment Sample.

The International Classification of Diseases, 11th Edition (ICD-11) has adopted a new model for the diagnosis of personality disorder (PD), and novel measures have therefore been developed to assist in its assessment. This study examined the psychometric properties of the Personality Disorder Severity ICD-11 (PDS-ICD-11) scale in a mixed sample of Danish adults in prison (n = 101; 100% males; Mage = 34.57, SDage = 9.27) or in a rehabilitation program (n = 132; 64% males; Mage = 39.47, SDage = 11.60) with co-occurring substance use dependency and personality pathology. An exploratory structural equation modeling representation of the Level of Personality Functioning Scale-Brief Form 2.0 in Iranian samples: Association with attachment, mentalizing, and personality pathology.

The Level of Personality Functioning Scale-Brief Form 2.0 (LPFS-BF 2.0) is a brief measure for personality functioning based on the Alternative Model for Personality Disorders. Despite a strong emerging research base in support of the measure, most studies have been conducted in North America or Europe, and few studies have explored its association with theoretically relevant correlates such as mentalizing and attachment. The current study examined its factor structure, reliability, measurement invariance, and validity in Iranian samples using Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling. Two Iran

MRI markers of neuroinflammation in untreated patients with subclinical generalized anxiety disorder.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is characterized by excessive worry and physical symptoms of prolonged anxiety. Patients with subclinical GAD-states (sub-GAD) do not fulfill the diagnostic criteria of GAD, but they often show a disease burden similar to GAD, and the subclinical state may turn into a full syndrome. Neuroinflammation may contribute to changes in brain structures in sub-GAD, but direct evidence remains lacking. We investigated 73 newly recruited sub-GAD patients who had never received pharmacological or psychological treatment and 64 matched non-clinical individuals. We utiliz

Hippocampal volume in affective and non-affective psychosis.

Hippocampal volume change in non-affective psychotic disorders begins in the anterior region and spreads to the posterior region as the illness progresses. It is unclear whether similar hippocampal volume changes are present in affective psychosis. Here, we test the hypothesis that anterior and posterior hippocampal volumes are differentially affected in affective psychosis. We also investigated the prevalence of a marker of atypical hippocampal development, incomplete hippocampal inversion (IHI), and its impact on hippocampal volume in affective psychosis. We analyzed total, anterior, and pos

Eating disorder screening measures in post-9/11 veteran men and women.

Eating disorders (EDs) are among the deadliest psychiatric disorders but are underdetected in health care settings, and the majority of people with these conditions do not get treatment for them. There is a need for well-validated and brief screening measures of EDs to aid in early detection and intervention. We compared the performance of two existing brief screeners in a sample of U.S. military veteran men and women, a population in which few evaluations of ED measures have been conducted. We investigated performance of these measures in the full sample and separately in the male and female

Evaluation of a 20-Item Version of the Trauma-Related Drinking to Cope Questionnaire.

OBJECTIVES: This study sought to develop and psychometrically evaluate an expanded version of the Trauma-Related Drinking to Cope (TRD) scale, a four-item self-report tool, which was developed to address a crucial gap in self-medication research. Before the development of the TRD, no measures existed which assessed alcohol use for coping with symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) specifically. Previous work showed that the TRD has strong psychometric properties and clinical utility in its ability to identify individuals with PTSD who may be at risk for developing comorbid alcohol us

The Cognitive Architecture of Obsessional Doubt: Inferential Confusion and Feared Selves in OCD-Relevant Intrusions.

Although previous research has examined the individual roles of unwanted intrusive thoughts (UITs), inferential confusion and feared selves in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), no study to date has evaluated their combined effects on OCD severity. This is particularly relevant given that the inference-based approach (IBA) posits a close link between inferential confusion and feared selves in the context of obsessional doubt. The present study with a cross-sectional design investigated the role of inferential confusion and feared selves in mediating the relationship between OCD-relevant UITs

Amygdala volume abnormalities and cognitive impairment in major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder II.

BACKGROUND: The amygdala, as a crucial brain region, plays a key role in processing emotions and cognitive information. Given that patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar disorder II (BD II) experience cognitive impairments, accurate diagnosis becomes a vital research focus. Consequently, we conducted an in-depth investigation into the relationship between the static volume of the amygdala and cognitive functions, aiming to provide valuable insights for future research in this field. METHODS: We collected a total of 42 treatment-naive MDD patients, 38 BD II patients, and 46
