Alogliptin (Vipidia) is a new selective inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase-4. By potentiating insulin secretion and by inhibiting glucagon secretion, both in a glucose-dependent manner, it improves glucose control of type 2 diabetic patients, without increasing the risk of hypoglycaemia and inducing weight gain, with an excellent clinical and biological tolerance. Long-term treatment of airway inflammation/infection with macrolide antibiotics has now been in use for almost 30 years. Whereas the beneficial clinical effect in cystic fibrosis and COPD have been backed up by randomized controlled trials, the evidence from the upper airways is not as strong. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the therapeutic effect and safety of rapamycin in treatment of children with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) complicated with epilepsy.
METHOD: This was an open-label, prospective, self-controlled study. From Sep. 2011 to Sep. 2013, 52 patients with the diagnosis of tuberous sclerosis complicated with epilepsy receiving rapamycin treatment for at least 24 weeks were enrolled.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of transcatheter closure (TCC) in patients with ruptured sinus of Valsalva aneurysm (RSVA).
BACKGROUND: RSVA is a rare cardiovascular disease with a varied clinical presentation. The clinical efficacy and safety of TCC for RSVA still remain an ongoing concern.
METHODS: From January 2009 to March 2013, 22 patients with RSVA were selected for TCC. Intracardiac pressure and size of cardiac chamber were measured before and post TCC. All patients were followed up by transthoracic echocardiography at 1, 3, 6, 12 months after procedure.

BACKGROUND: Endovascular treatment of wide necked and large/giant intracranial aneurysms is challenging. The goal of this study was to evaluate the Liberty stent system in the rabbit elastase aneurysm model for 30, 90, and 180 days.
METHODS: The Altes elastase model was used to create aneurysms in the right common carotid artery in New Zealand White rabbits. Although exercise stress echocardiography (ESE) is a well-validated technique in adult population, its use in children is quite limited. We aimed to assess the feasibility, the safety and the reproducibility of ESE, using on-line scanning in semi-supine cyclo-ergometer protocol in a large pediatric population.
