Transnasal Endoscopic Approach for the Revision of Rathke's Cyst and Successful Long-Term Follow-Up: A Case Report.

Rathke's cleft cysts are benign epithelial-lined sellar and suprasellar lesions that are often incidental findings but can cause visual deficits, hypopituitarism, and headaches when they enlarge and compress adjacent structures. Recurrence after surgical treatment remains challenging despite various surgical approaches. Marsupialization has emerged as an alternative technique for complex recurrent cases, establishing permanent communication between the cyst and the nasal cavity while minimizing surgical risk. We present a case of a 76-year-old man with type 2 diabetes mellitus, a history of me

[Diagnostic approach and treatment paradigm in atrophic age related macular degeneration: Recommendations of the France Macula Federation].

Atrophic age-related macular degeneration (AMD) represents a detrimental progression of age-related maculopathy, characterized by advanced retinal lesions associated with drusen and pseudodrusen as well as alterations in the outer retinal layers and RPE. It is characterized by a thinning of the neuroretinal tissue linked to the disappearance of the outer layers of the retina and the RPE. Our goal is to offer to ophthalmologists recommendations in the diagnosis and management of atrophic AMD with a standardized approach, in order to facilitate and optimize the management of this disease. Albinism: Management and care of ophthalmological manifestations.

Albinism is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by both dermatological and ophthalmological expressions. In ophthalmological practice, patients with albinism frequently present with nystagmus and reduced visual acuity, the diagnosis having been made previously on dermatological features, or not. Specific ophthalmological features include iris transillumination, macular hypopigmentation, and foveal hypoplasia, all of them being quantifiable clinically using reproducible grading systems. Refractive errors (most often with-the-rule astigmatism and hypermetropia), along with strabismus (both es

Interocular transfer of visual memory - Influence of visual impairment and abnormalities of the optic chiasm.

Due to an increased crossing of the optic nerve fibers at the optic chiasm in albinism, the visual cortex receives largely monocular input from the contralateral eye. Here we investigated whether this obstruction of binocular integration at the cortical input stage also impacts on interocular information exchange at the high processing level of visual memory. Interocular transfer (IOT) of visual memory retrieval was tested psychophysically after monocular encoding in 8 albinotic participants and 24 healthy controls. The retrieval performance (hit rate, reaction time, d') was determined when us
