Effectiveness and Tolerability of Anti-Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide Therapy for Migraine and Other Chronic Headaches in Adolescents and Young Adults: A Retrospective Study in the USA.

This retrospective study assesses the efficacy and tolerability of anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide (anti-CGRP) therapy in adolescents and young adults (ages 12-21) with migraine and chronic daily headaches unresponsive to standard treatments. Migraines in this demographic significantly impair school performance, self-esteem, psychological well-being, and cognitive health. These young patients are also particularly sensitive to the side effects of conventional medications, which are often prescribed off-label and come with high insurance denial rates. Medication overuse, including analgesi

Unfilled Prescriptions of Medicare Beneficiaries: Prevalence, Reasons, and Types of Medicines Prescribed.

BACKGROUND: Despite the proven efficacy of prescription regimens in reducing disease symptoms and preventing or minimizing complications, poor medication adherence remains a significant public health problem. Medicare beneficiaries have high rates of chronic illness and prescription medication use, making this population particularly vulnerable to nonadherence. Failure to fill prescribed medication is a key component of nonadherence. OBJECTIVES: To (1) determine the rates of self-reported failure to fill at least 1 prescription among a sample of Medicare beneficiaries in 2004, (2) identify th

Association Between Therapeutic Alliance and Clinical Outcomes in Virtual Telepsychiatry: A Retrospective Analysis of Data from Talkiatry.

BACKGROUND: Given the increasing demand for accessible mental health services, fully virtual telepsychiatry has become a vital component of modern health care delivery. Therapeutic alliance, the collaborative and affective bond between patients and therapists, is a well-established predictor of clinical outcomes in traditional face-to-face and teletherapy. However, the relationship between therapeutic alliance and clinical outcomes in an outpatient telepsychiatry setting remains less understood. OBJECTIVE: Our primary objective was to evaluate the relationship between therapeutic alliance and

Adolescent substance use disorders and comorbidity.

It is imperative to know what risk factors are more likely to appear during specific developmental stages so that identification and interventions can be used to decrease the risk for future SUD. Continued surveying of risk factors that can occur at any stage in childhood are important to ensure that other risk factors are anticipated and intervened upon as well. Multiple risk factors increase the magnitude of the risk for SUD, and therefore all risk factors should be detected to convert these to protective factors. Screening instruments that can assess risk factors found to increase the risk

Development of a prediction model of postpartum hospital use using an equity-focused approach.

BACKGROUND: Racial inequities in maternal morbidity and mortality persist into the postpartum period, leading to a higher rate of postpartum hospital use among Black and Hispanic people. Delivery hospitalizations provide an opportunity to screen and identify people at high risk to prevent adverse postpartum outcomes. Current models do not adequately incorporate social and structural determinants of health, and some include race, which may result in biased risk stratification. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to develop a risk prediction model of postpartum hospital use while incorporating social a

Association between maternal benzodiazepine or Z-hypnotic use in early pregnancy and the risk of stillbirth, preterm birth, and small for gestational age: a nationwide, population-based cohort study in Taiwan.

BACKGROUND: Benzodiazepines and Z-hypnotics are commonly prescribed for anxiety and insomnia during pregnancy, but the evidence regarding potential adverse neonatal outcomes is insufficient because of poor control for confounding factors in previous studies. We therefore aimed to evaluate the association between the use of benzodiazepines or Z-hypnotics during early pregnancy and adverse neonatal outcomes (stillbirth, preterm birth, and small for gestational age). METHODS: We did a nationwide, population-based cohort study in Taiwan using three data sources: Taiwan's National Birth Certificat

Treatment of culturally diverse children and adolescents with depression.

This article is written for the practitioners treating depression in ethnic minority youth. It will review the context in which services are delivered to these youth: Researchers have recognized persistent ethnic differences in terms of utilization of services and unmet need. Furthermore, when ethnic minority youth do receive pediatric mental health care, the services that they receive may differ from those given to White patients. The reasons for these discrepancies have been examined in numerous studies, and have included contextual variables (economics, availability, and accessibility of se

[Cost-effectiveness analysis of schizophrenic patient care settings: impact of an atypical antipsychotic under long-acting injection formulation].

UNLABELLED: Schizophrenia is a disease affecting the young adults and amounts to approximately 300,000 people in France. The French public psychiatric sector takes care of approximately 150,000 adults schizophrenics: 50% benefit from ambulatory care, 50% are in partial or full-time hospitalization care. Schizophrenia represents the first diagnosis that psychiatric sectors take in charge. The costs associated with schizophrenia, mainly hospital costs, are important and were estimated at 2% of the total medical costs in France. In the French social welfare system, the social costs (pensions, all

Neuropsychiatric disorders in adults undergoing chimeric antigen receptor T cells therapy for aggressive lymphomas and acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

ObjectiveTo evaluate risk factors for neuropsychiatric disorders (NPD) in recipients of CART therapy.MethodsPatients ≥ 18 years with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and aggressive B-cell lymphomas who received CART in 2018 were evaluated. Patients with and without NPD were compared.ResultsNPD was diagnosed in 31.2% of patients. Compared to patients without NPD, patients with NPD were likely to be females (P = 0.035) and have ALL (P = 0.039). NPD was significantly associated with female gender (OR = 2.03) and diagnosis of ALL (OR = 2.76). No association between NPD and outcomes.ConclusionsF
