Chronic low-grade postoperative endophthalmitis in a child with Marfan syndrome.

This case report describes a 9-year-old male who presented to the emergency department with 2 days' history of left painful red eye. On initial examination, his outside medical records indicated that he had bilateral subluxated lenses and had undergone left eye lensectomy with glued intrascleral fixation of an intraocular lens 8 weeks earlier. Vision in left eye was poor from first postoperative day but with no undue pain or redness, and poor vision was attributed to possible vitreous bleed. Subsequent postoperative course was uneventful. He was discharged from ophthalmic care on topical stero

Retinoblastoma. Unusual warning and clinical signs.

Three clinical cases have been chosen to illustrate the pitfalls that can be encountered when warning signs other than leukokoria or strabismus indicate possible retinoblastoma. The first case, a four-year-old boy, was admitted to hospital after an accident, presenting uveitis, glaucoma and a subluxated lens. He was suffering from unilateral retinoblastoma, already exteriorized and the cause of death some months later. The second case, and 11-month-old female child was seen on fundus examination to present a yellowish elevated calcified mass which turned out to be tuberous sclerosis. The third

Outcomes of retropupillary iris claw lens implantation in patients with intraocular lens dislocation and low (less than 1000 cells/mm2) corneal endothelial cell density.

BACKGROUND: Posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) dislocation is a common complication of cataract surgery. Dislocated IOLs often require surgical intervention due to the potentially severe risks of leaving this condition untreated. If a patient with extremely low corneal endothelial cell density (ECD) presents with IOL dislocation, the surgeon faces a crucial dilemma of choosing the most optimal surgical treatment option. We sought to investigate the efficacy and safety of retropupillary iris claw intraocular lens (R-IOL) implantation in patients with IOL dislocation and extremely low (< 1
