The induction of PHBP mRNA and the conversion of pro PHBP to the active hetero-dimer form were studied after CCl4, D-galactosamine, HgCl2 or turpentine administration and after partial hepatectomy. Mercury ions can inhibit Candida albicans phosphomannose isomerase (PMI) by two different processes at sub-micromolar concentrations. Dopamine transporters of bovine and rat striata were identified by their specific [3H]cocaine binding and cocaine-sensitive [3H]dopamine [( 3H]DA) uptake. The purpose of the present investigation was to determine, in patients with oral mucosal lesions of lichenoid character, whether it is possible with epicutaneous patch tests, to detect those who will react favorably to removal of amalgam. Of 48 patients, 19 (39.6%) showed positive patch test reactions to 1% mercury ammonium chloride, and 29 (60.4%) showed negative test results.
