PURPOSE: This prospective study followed 61 patients who were partially dentulous and considered to have insufficient bone volume for routine implant treatment and consequently underwent sinus inlay bone grafting.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: The patients were treated with maxillary sinus floor augmentation with particulated autogenous bone from the mandibular ramus/corpus. After a healing period, dental implants (n = 180) were installed.

BACKGROUND: Harvest of transverse rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (TRAM) flaps for breast reconstruction leaves a variable defect in the anterior rectus fascia. Inadequate closure of the defect could lead to the development of hernia or abdominal wall bulging. A 3 1/2 year audit of the outcome of oral mucosal grafts was conducted at the occuloplastic service of Wentworth Hospital, Durban, South Africa. We studied 17 consecutive patients with ages ranging from 2 years to 83 years; young males predominated. Strictures and ruptures of the bulbomembranous urethra have traditionally been treated by a two-stage scrotal skin inlay technique (Johanson B. Reconstruction of the male urethra in strictures. Acta Chir Scand 1953; Suppl 176). For the last 10 years we have treated the patients instead with a skin-dartos island flap pedicled on intertesticular septal vessels. The skin island has been taken from the scrotum, the penile base, or the penile shaft. Twenty-five consecutive patients were treated until 1993 and followed up for at least 5 years. Five of the patients had had open urethroplasty before.

BACKGROUND: Achieving watertight dural closure in posterior fossa surgery is often challenging due to the anatomical complexity of this region, particularly when suturing is not feasible near critical venous structures. These circumstances increase the risk of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage, a well-recognized complication. Traditional single-layer techniques may be insufficient to achieve a watertight seal. To address this limitation, we developed a novel multilayer duraplasty method, termed the "Sandwich Technique," which combines an absorbable collagen matrix with autologous fascia.
