BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Laser "toning" with a Q-switched neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser has recently been described to be effective for the treatment of melasma. Leukoderma is a refractory complication of laser toning for melasma, but it can be detected early with ultraviolet (UV) imaging. We assessed the relationship between leukoderma and the frequency or total number of laser toning sessions, as well as the effectiveness of UV imaging for detecting leukoderma.

A group of 33 patients, 27 with early superficial esophageal cancer and six with early superficial carcinoma of the gastric cardia, were treated with endoscopic neodymium:yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser from April 1989 to March 1993. INTRODUCTION: Despite its proven effectiveness and safety profile, the XEN Gel Stent (Allergan Inc., CA, USA) has a small lumen and is therefore likely to become occluded by fibrin, a blood clot, or even the iris. However, few studies have investigated XEN-iris occlusion and how to manage this condition.
