The intraductal tubular adenoma (ITA), pyloric gland type, of the pancreas is an uncommon benign tumor, akin to the pyloric gland type adenoma of the gallbladder. BACKGROUND/AIMS: This study evaluated the effect of Helicobacter pylori eradication on functional dyspepsia (FD), and the relationship between the changes of histological gastritis and FD symptom responses.
METHODS: A total of 213 FD patients diagnosed by Rome III criteria were consecutively enrolled. H. pylori tests and gastritis grade by the Sydney system were performed before and 1 year after the proton pump based-eradication therapy for 7 days. We investigated an antiinflammatory effect of rebamipide [2-(4-chlorobenzoylamino)-3-[2(1H)-quinolinon-4-yl] propionic acid], a gastroprotective agent, in H. pylori-associated gastritis. Eighty-six patients with H. pylori-positive chronic gastritis were enrolled: 53 were treated with rebamipide (300 mg daily for 12 months) and 33 served as controls.
