Stress phenotyping of wild desert legume Acacia senegal with machine learning application and phytochemical characterization of bipinnate leaves.

Plants encounter multiple abiotic stresses. Among them, heat and drought stress play a substantial role in reducing the agricultural productivity of commercial plants. Hence, wild and underutilized plants can be a potential alternative as they are naturally tolerant to extreme climatic conditions and are a rich source of nutrition. Manual stress and disease detection is a laborious and expensive process, and hence automation in this field is required to reduce agricultural losses. This study evaluates the prediction and detection of abiotic stress in Acacia senegal bipinnate leaves, exploring

Acacia Fiber Protects the Gut from Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL)-Producing Escherichia coli Colonization Enabled by Antibiotics.

Novel approaches to combating antibiotic resistance are needed given the ever-continuing rise of antibiotic resistance and the scarce discovery of new antibiotics. Little is known about the colonization dynamics and the role of intrinsic plant-food characteristics in this process. We sought to determine whether plant fiber could alter colonization dynamics by antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the gut. We determined that ingestion of antibiotics in mice markedly enhanced gut colonization by a pathogenic extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli strain of human origin, E. coli J

Population Collapse of the Spidery Wattle (Acacia araneosa) During Late Holocene Aridification: Genomic Evidence for Critically Endangered Status.

Protection and restoration of ecosystems, ceasing human-induced extinctions and maintaining genetic diversity are key goals for the Global Biodiversity Framework. Molecular techniques can provide empirical data to understand all these goals and provide actionable conservation advice. Acacia araneosa, an endangered aridland shrub, has a restricted distribution in South Australia where it coexists sympatrically with the widespread Acacia rivalis. Evidence of hybridisation between the two challenges the A. araneosa species concept. Here, we examine the genetic distinctness between the two species

Characterization, Density and In Vitro Controlled Release Properties of Mimosa (Acacia mearnsii) Tannin Encapsulated in Palm and Sunflower Oils.

Tannin has gained wider acceptance as a dietary supplement in contemporary animal nutrition investigations because of its potential to reduce enteric methane emission. However, a major drawback to dietary tannin intake is the bitter taste and instability in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). The utilization of fats as coating materials will ensure appropriate masking of the tannin's aversive taste and its delivery to the target site. The aims of this study were to encapsulate mimosa tannin with palm oil or sunflower oil, and to assess the microcapsules in terms of encapsulation efficiency, morp
