Patients with either relapsed or refractory T-cell acute lymphocytic leukemia (T-ALL) are candidates for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Achieving complete remission (CR) in these patients is difficult but crucial for the success of allo-HSCT. In this study, we examined 6 relapsed or refractory T-ALL patients. The present communication describes a patient with paraganglioma found in the retroperitoneum and neck. She was treated with the combination chemotherapy employing cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and cisplatin (CAP therapy), and resulted in remarkable regression of the tumor in size. We reviewed the literature about the therapy of paraganglioma and the nature of retroperitoneal paraganglioma in relation with this case.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and toxicity of priming induction regimen of CAG for newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in elderly patients.
METHODS: Seventy-five patients with newly diagnosed AML were divided into 2 groups: 34 were treated with priming induction regimen CAG and the other 41 were treated with 2 classic routine chemotherapy regimens including pirarubicin+cytarabine (TA) and homoharringtonine+cytarabine (HA). All patients had a 14 day interval between the 2 courses of chemotherapy.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical efficacy of low-dose decitabine combined with CAG regimen in patients with myelodysplastic syndrome-refractory anemia with excess blasts (MDS-RAEB) through retrospective analysis.
METHODS: Thirty-six patients with MDS-RAEB who ever received low-dose decitabine combined with CAG regimen were enrolled into decitabine + CAG group and 40 patients with MDS-RAEB treated by decitabine alone in our center were enolled into the control group.
