The Klippel-Feil syndrome is a congenital malformation of the skull flap involving complex cervical vertebrae and organs, characterized by a classic triad: short neck, limitation of movement of the head due to cervical spine fusion and low hairline in occipital region. It results from an error in the axial skeleton segmentation of the embryo; its incidence is estimated at 1/40,000-42,000 births and predominates in females. The aim of this paper is to describe the clinical picture of a patient with Klippel-Feil syndrome and multiple malformations, including tracheoesophageal fistula, bifid thum

Benign soft tissue tumors of the vulva are relatively rare in adult patients. We present the magnetic resonance (MR) imaging features of an angiolipoma of the labia majora that developed in a 58-year-old woman. MR imaging showed a well-circumscribed lesion that was hyperintense on T1-weighted and T2-weighted MR images, and hypointense on fat-suppressed MR images, consistent with fat content. High apparent diffusion coefficient was noticed on diffusion-weighted MR images. Dynamic gadolinium-chelate enhanced MR imaging showed progressive enhancement. Histopathologically, the lesion was predomina

A 26-year-old woman in week 31 of pregnancy presented to the emergency room with acute onset of paraplegia. Her medical history was unremarkable. Neurological examination revealed complete paraplegia, total sensory loss below the T7 dermatome, and significant vesicorectal dysfunction. MRI revealed an intraspinal mass from T3 to T4, which was hyperintense on both T1-weighted and T2-weighted images. Blood examination found no abnormality. She underwent emergent hemilaminectomy and removal of the hematoma. Intraoperatively, unusually ectatic venous vessels were found adhered to the lower surface

Lipoma and angiolipoma are common benign neoplasms that occur in the subcutaneous tissue and rarely in the gastrointestinal tract. These tumors are usually asymptomatic but may present with abdominal pain, bleeding and obstruction. We present a 53-years-old woman with abdominal discomfort for several weeks accompanied with bloody diarrhea and recurrent vomiting. Ileo-ileal invagination was diagnosed by computed tomography scan. Laparotomy revealed five intraluminal masses that caused intussusception. Histopathological study showed that one was angiolipoma and other lesions were lipoma. We have

Angiolipomas in the lumbar spinal region are extremely rare. The present report describes the identification of such a tumor and its removal, and discusses the tumor characteristics and prognosis. A 74-year-old woman was presented with a 5-month history of lower back pain. Severe radiculopathy was experienced in the left leg for 5 days prior to the presentation, and there were no neurological deficits. Magnetic resonance (MR) images showed an approximately 3.5 cm heterogeneously enhanced and elongated mass at the left L5-S1 level. A portion of the mass appeared with high signal intensity on T2

Spinal extradural angiolipomas (SEALs) are rare, benign neoplasms composed of mature adipocytes and vascular elements. They are often noninfiltrating and located in the posterior aspect of the spinal canal at the level of thoracic/dorsal vertebrae. Back pain, progressive paraparesis, and sensory disturbance in lower limbs are the typical symptoms. Here, we discuss two cases of SEALs presenting with subacute paraparesis. The magnetic resonance imaging of one patient was reported to be suggestive of spinal metastasis/plasmacytoma/sarcoma, while the other was reported as a spinal extradural hemat

Spinal angiolipomas are benign uncommon neoplasm composed of mature lipocytes admixed with abnormal blood vessels. They account for only 0.04-1.2% of all spinal tumors. We report two cases of lumbar extradural angiolipoma and review previously reported cases. We found 118 cases of spinal epidural angiolipoma (70 females and 48 males; age range 1.5-85 years, mean 44.03) spanning from 1890 to 2006. Prior to diagnosis 40.6% of the patients had weakness of the lower limbs. The interval between the initial symptoms and tumor diagnosis ranged from 1 day to 17 years (mean 20.2 months). Except for fou

Infiltrating angiolipomas are tumors consisting of adipose tissue marked by vascular proliferation and are nonencapsulated or partially encapsulated. These tumors are very rare in the head and neck. This is the first case report of infiltrating angiolipoma arising from the nasopharynx causing the Eustachian tube dysfunction. A 29-year-old female presented with a history of earfullness and nasal obstruction. A sessile mass was found at the left superior-lateral wall of the nasopharynx. The mass was excised by a transnasal endoscopic approach. The tumor was adhered to the cavernous sinus contain

Angiolipomas are rare benign soft tissue tumours that are mostly encapsulated by fibrous tissue. A case of an infiltrating angiolipoma with mixed vascularisation, not surrounded by a capsule, is described. Differentiation between lipoid degenerated fibromas, lipoid histiocytoses and haemangiomas is radiologically possible with an extensive security and enables an adequate choice of the surgical procedure.

BACKGROUND: Spinal epidural angiolipomas are rare benign tumors comprising 0.5-1% of all spinal neoplasms and typically arise in the thoracic spine, causing progressive myelopathy due to spinal cord compression. They feature mature adipocytes and vascular proliferation, show heterogeneous magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) enhancement, and may mimic posttraumatic or degenerative myelopathy, particularly in patients with prior spinal cord injury.
CASE DESCRIPTION: A 56-year-old man presented with a 3-month history of progressive numbness and weakness in both lower limbs. He had sustained a cervi

A 83-year-old woman with previous history of gallstone was hospitalized with intermittent melena of 1-week duration. Gastroscopy showed a protuberant mass with thick pedicle and superficial ulcer measuring 3.0 × 4.0-cm in the lower gastric body (Fig. 1. A). Biopsy of the ulcer indicated chronic inflammation without evidence of malignancy. Abdominal contrast-enhanced computed tomography demonstrated a well-defined and mixed density mass with heterogeneous enhancement in the gastric body. The final diagnosis was gastric angiolipoma.

Angiolipomas (ALs) are hamartomas composed of abnormally differentiated vessels and mature adipose tissue. Although they are most commonly found in peripheral tissues, ALs sometimes grow in the spinal epidural space. Intracranial ALs (ICALs) are rare: only seven cases have been reported in the literature. The authors describe the case of a 70-year-old woman who presented with ocular symptoms from a clinically and radiologically progressing parasellar ICAL. The radiological as well as the microsurgical findings are illustrated and compared with the seven previously published cases. The most fre

BACKGROUND Angiolipoma is a benign mesenchymal tumor that usually occurs in the sub-skin tissue of limbs and the trunk. However, intracranial angiolipomas are rarely reported, and most of intracranial angiolipomas reported were found in the sellar and parasellar areas. We report the case of a 23-year-old man presenting with ataxia and bilateral upper-limb tremor due to a pineal region angiolipoma resected endoscopically by supracerebellar infratentorial approach. We also reviewed the literature to explore the etiology, locations, features, and surgical outcomes of intracranial angiolipomas. CA

BACKGROUND: A 64-year-old man presented with a 7.8 cm lipomatous thyroid mass discovered on magnetic resonance imaging.
METHODS: After two non-diagnostic fine needle aspirations (FNAs) were performed, computed tomography (CT) revealed features concerning for malignancy including central necrosis and infiltrative borders. A third FNA was still non-diagnostic. Total thyroidectomy was performed.
RESULTS: Upon pathologic examination, the final diagnosis was primary thyroid angiolipoma. The lesion contained central fat necrosis with ischemic features, attributable to the FNAs.
CONCLUSION: Ours i

Angiolipomas are benign mesenchymal tumors that often occur under the skin of the upper extremity or thoracic and abdominal walls. Angiolipomas of the digestive tract are rare. Here, we describe a case of transverse colon angiolipoma with intussusception resected by laparoscopy-assisted surgery. A 50-year-old woman visited a family hospital with complaints of left lower abdominal pain and bloody stool. Colonoscopy revealed a submucosal tumor in her left colon. She was referred to our hospital for further examination. Computed tomography revealed a low-density tumor with intussusception in the

AIM: Angiolipoma is uncommon lesion in the breast and has clinical importance due to the potential of confusion with malignant breast lesions. To date, there is no defined diagnosis and treatment algorithm for breast angiolipomas. We aim to contribute to the literature for the diagnosis and treatment of angiolipomas with this case report and literature review.
CASE REPORT: A 29-year-old male patient presented with a newly emerged palpable mass in the right breast. Physical examination revealed a palpable mass in the lower inner quadrant of the right breast without any presence of skin changes
