Charybdotoxin, a 37 amino acid peptide isolated from scorpion venom, is a potent inhibitor of potassium channel function. [125I]charybdotoxin was originally believed to be a selective ligand for the Ca(2+)-sensitive channel in many tissues, but it appears to bind only to a voltage-sensitive potassium channel in brain. Quantitative autoradiography was used to study cocaine binding sites in the human brain postmortem. In order to examine the role of serotonin-2 (5HT2) receptors in depression and suicide, we determined 5HT2 receptors using 125I-lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) as the binding ligand in platelets obtained from 20 normal control and 23 drug-free depressed patients. Separation of dopamine (DA) agonist and antagonist receptors was attempted by means of a covalently-bound fluphenazine-agarose (Flu-agarose). The rat kidney and brain are major target organs for vasopressin (VP). A procedure was developed for immunocytochemical staining of VP and its binding sites in the kidney. This procedure involved preincubation of kidney sections with the ligand, followed by immunocytochemical detection of VP. The characteristics of opiate binding sites in the retina of the chick, rabbit and goldfish have been investigated. In the newly hatched chick retina, 131 fmol/mg of binding sites for [D-Ala2-D-Leu5]-[3H]enkephalin are present; competition studies with the delta selective peptide [D-Thr-Leu5]-enkephalin (DTLET) and the mu selective peptide morphiceptin show that all of the [D-Ala2-D-Leu5]-[3H]-enkephalin binding sites are of the delta subtype. Dihydro[3H]morphine binds poorly to the chick retina; 13.2 fmol/mg of this binding is displaceable by morphiceptin and corresponds to mu binding sites.

BACKGROUND: MYC is a key transcription factor involved in central cellular processes such as regulation of the cell cycle, histone acetylation and ribosomal biogenesis. It is overexpressed in the majority of human tumors including aggressive B-cell lymphoma. Especially Burkitt lymphoma (BL) is a highlight example for MYC overexpression due to a chromosomal translocation involving the c-MYC gene. However, no genome-wide analysis of MYC-binding sites by chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) followed by next generation sequencing (ChIP-Seq) has been conducted in BL so far.

20 specimens of normal pleural mesothelium were investigated with six lectins using isolated cells and tissue specimens as well as two different fixation techniques (glutaraldehyde and formaldehyde) and 10 monoclonal antibodies (MAb) on cytologic preparations only. The numbers of bradykinin receptors (BK-R) in cultured dermal fibroblasts from patients with progressive systemic sclerosis (PSS) and from healthy controls were measured using a receptor binding assay.
