Methanolic leaf extract of Cassia fistula was tested for larvicidal and ovicidal activity against Culex quinquefasciatus and Anopheles stephensi. The extract was found to be more lethal to the larvae of A. stephensi than C. quinquefasciatus with LC(50) values of 17.97 and 20.57 mg/l, respectively. Mean percent hatchability of the ovicidal activity was observed 120 h after treatment. The percent hatchability was inversely proportional to the concentration of extract and directly proportional to the eggs. The egg raft of C. quinquefasciatus was found to be more hatchable than A. stephensi. The r

The development of antimicrobial resistance against traditionally used drugs has become a current problem. To address these problems, essential oil emulsions have emerged as one of the solutions. Emulsions, however, may exhibit instability phenomena due to storage time. This study investigated the influence of storage time on the physicochemical properties of cinnamon bark essential oil emulsions. These emulsions were produced using: cinnamon bark essential oil (Cinnamomum cassia) (CEO), coconut oil as the Ostwald ripening inhibitor (OR), and 10 and 20 % (v/v) of polysorbate 80 (CEOE-1 and CEO

The present study was conducted to investigate the anti-oxidative activities of different solvent extracts of Cassia singueana parts. Our results indicate that all the extracts have reducing power (Fe3+ --> Fe2+) and DPPH radical scavenging abilities. However, the ethyl acetate extract of the stem bark has the highest total reducing power whilst the ethanol extract of the stem bark has more potent free radical scavenging activity than all the other extracts. The ethyl acetate extract of the stem bark exhibited more powerful hydroxyl radical scavenging activity than other extracts whilst the aq

The efficient flotation separation of Fe-bearing silicate minerals remains a major challenge due to their similar surface chemistry. In this work, the molecular mechanism underlying the selective depression of specularite by cassia seed gum (CG), a natural galactomannan polymer, was systematically investigated. Comparative flotation and turbidity analyses revealed that CG acts as a nonflocculating selective depressant, in contrast to the high-flocculating behavior of guar gum and xanthan gum. Surface characterizations including Zeta potential, adsorption density, Fourier transform infrared spe
