Chondroblastoma is a benign cartilaginous neoplasm that generally affects the appendicular skeleton. Twenty-six cases of spinal chondroblastoma have been reported in the past 50 years, only six of which were located in the lumbar region. The authors report two cases involving this exceptional location. In both patients, low-back pain, in the absence of radicular pain, was the presenting symptom. In both cases, plain radiography and computerized tomography scanning revealed an osteolytic lesion surrounded by marginal sclerosis. Magnetic resonance imaging allowed the authors to study the tumor's

Chondroblastoma is a rare bone tumor, most often found in epiphyseal plates of long bones. It has infrequently been reported in the skull, most often in the temporal bone. We present a case of chondroblastoma of the occipital bone in a pediatric patient presenting with a bony protuberance of the occiput and imaging consistent with obstructive hydrocephalus, which persisted even after removal of the obstructing tumor. Pathological examination demonstrated that this unusually placed tumor also lacked the classic genetic markers typically associated with chondroblastoma.

We present the case of a 22-year-old female patient with chondroblastoma in the right humeral head. To allow a gentle and anatomic resurfacing of the humeral joint surface and to avoid total joint arthroplasty in our young patient with high functional requirements, we implanted a HemiCAP® after intralesional curettage of the chondroblastoma. Our patient's excellent short-term functional outcome shows that our approach can be considered a very good therapeutic option.

Chondroblastoma is a rare tumor. It is usually benign; however, it can have an aggressive course before or after operative treatment, even resulting in pulmonary metastases. The foot is a rare location for chondroblastoma, and to our knowledge, chondroblastoma occurring in the navicular bone has not been reported previously in the English literature. We describe a case of navicular chondroblastoma case associated with an aneurysmal bone cyst. Treatment consisted of aggressive curettage, phenolization, and bone allograft. The patient was able to resume normal activities after treatment, and the

Chondroblastoma is a relatively rare tumor that mimics giant cell tumor and displays a predilection for long bones. In the present report, we describe the case of a benign chondroblastoma localized to the second metatarsal in a 20-year-old male who presented with a 2-year history of painless left foot swelling. Treatment of the tumor involved excision of the second metatarsal with use of an autologous structural fibular bone graft to stabilize the metatarsus and second toe. After 27 months of follow-up, the patient was ambulating well in regular shoes, with no clinical or radiographic evidence

A case of chondroblastoma associated with an aneurysmal bone cyst has been described. The radiographic appearance of the lesion understandably reflects the combined features of both tumors. Up to one-half of all cases of aneurysmal bone cysts are found in association with other tumors, benign or malignant, and up to 15% of chondroblastomas are combined with an aneurysmal bone cyst (4).

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study was the investigation of radiological and clinical long-term results after surgery for chondroblastoma in a single orthopedic oncological center.
METHOD: As much as 24 patients were enrolled in the study using an in-house tumor data-base (age, sex, patient history, clinical symptoms, type of surgery, complications, and histological results), radiological findings (localization/size of the lesion, Lodwick-classification, Enneking-stages, and local recurrence), and clinical investigation (Enneking score). Mean follow-up was 8 years.
RESULTS: Preferred sites

INTRODUCTION: Calcaneal chondroblastoma with secondary aneurysmal bone cyst is an exceptionally rare occurrence with few cases published in the literature. Differentiating primary aneurysmal bone cyst from secondary aneurysmal bone cyst in the setting of chondroblastoma is important as it has implications for orthopedic management and follow up. This case illustrates the transition from an initial impression of an aneurysmal bone cyst to the definitive diagnosis of an underlying chondroblastoma, leading to appropriate treatment and a positive outcome.

PURPOSE: To describe and analyse functional treatment of temporal bone chondroblastoma (TBCh).
METHODS: From January 2000 to June 2019, at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Hôpital Lariboisière, Paris, France, patients with TBCh were enrolled in this study. All cases routinely performed pre-operatory work-up including evaluation of performance status, audio-vestibular function test, ear endoscopy, contrasted CT scan and MRI of head and neck region; in one case we also performed an angio-CT scan. All patients underwent resection of the tumour with a "functional" approach RESULTS: Three ma

Chondroblastoma is a rare benign cartilaginous tumor that accounts for approximately 1% of bone tumors, but it can be associated with lung metastasis in extremely rare cases, leading to a poor prognosis and death. Herein, we report the case of a 19-year-old male patient who presented with an aggressive chondroblastoma of the proximal humerus and bilateral lung metastasis. The patient was treated with wide local resection, partial metastasectomy, and denosumab. Denosumab treatment was effective in controlling metastatic progression and preventing local recurrence.

Chondroblastoma has a predilection for the epiphyses or apophyses of long tubular bones. Management of lesions in the proximal tibia is challenging because it is difficult to gain access to intraepiphyseal lesions for completion of curettage. From October 2007 to December 2011, 9 patients with de novo chondroblastoma of the proximal tibia underwent surgery at the authors' institution. All patients initially presented with pain, and 5 patients had limitation of range of motion of the ipsilateral knee. Four lesions abutted the tibial attachment sites of the cruciate ligaments. Surgical procedure

OBJECTIVE: To characterize the spectrum of MRI findings of chondroblastomas of the knee and location-dependent differences.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This IRB-approved retrospective study included pediatric patients (< 18 years) with pathologically confirmed chondroblastoma about the knee and available preoperative MRI (2008-2025). All MRI examinations were retrospectively reviewed to characterize lesion volume, anatomic location, margin characteristics, marginal low signal intensity rim, internal fluidlike signal and fluid levels, epiphyseal and metaphyseal marrow edema, and cortical and physea

BACKGROUND: Chondroblastoma is a rare, benign bone tumor originating from immature chondrocytes, typically found in the epiphyseal plates of long bones. Its occurrence in the skull, particularly the occipital bone, is extremely rare.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report a 10-year-old girl presenting with paroxysmal dizziness, occipital pain, and a palpable mass. Imaging studies revealed an osteolytic lesion in the occipital bone with a multiloculated appearance, indicating a concomitant aneurysmal bone cyst. The patient underwent craniotomy with complete tumor excision. Postoperative follow-up showed

Chondroblastoma is a locally destructive, cartilaginous bone tumor that accounts for a small percentage of cases of primary bone tumors. Although considered a benign tumor, chondroblastoma can locally recur and can rarely metastasize. Here, we report a rare presentation of a locally recurrent chondroblastoma with pulmonary metastases. A 13-year-old female presented with palpitations, dry cough, difficulty breathing, and chest tightness four years after her original surgical resection of tibial chondroblastoma. On chest CT, multiple pulmonary soft tissue nodules with confluent punctate areas of

INTRODUCTION: Synovial chondromatosis is a rare synovial disorder characterized by the presence of benign loose bodies in the joint space. The affliction of the hip joint is rare. This entity usually goes undiagnosed as it is largely asymptomatic till complications such as secondary osteoarthritis secondary to degenerative changes, subluxation of hip, and fracture neck of femur ensue.
CASE REPORT: A 46-year-old farmer presented with a 9-year long history of the left hip pain with restriction in flexion, extension, and internal rotation. He was diagnosed with synovial chondromatosis and had a

INTRODUCTION: Surgery for chondroblastoma in the femoral head is challenging due to its inaccessibility, with high risk of local recurrence and poor functional outcomes reported. We herein report the first case of chondroblastoma in the femoral head treated by navigation-assisted surgery.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 12-year-old girl presented with persistent left hip pain and limited hip range of motion. Imaging studies revealed a well-defined osteolytic lesion in the left femoral head accompanied by extensive intra-osseous oedematous change. The bone lesion was radiologically diagnosed as chondr

BACKGROUND: Chondroblastoma (CB), a rare benign bone tumor that produces chondrocytes, often develops in the epiphysis or apophysis of children and young adults. The treatment of these rare tumors is complex. The standard treatment protocol involves curettage with local adjuvants and bone graft or cement application. The authors examined 38 CBs to determine risk factors for local recurrence, complications, and functional outcomes following epiphyseal curettage.
METHODS: Twenty-two girls and sixteen boys aged 10 to 17 years with histologically confirmed chondroblastoma who arrived at our hospi

Chondroblastoma considered a rare form of osseous neoplasm contributes less than 1% of all bone tumours. It is typically found in young patients with chief complaints of moderate pain with joint stiffness. It develops as a lytic lesion in the epiphysis of long bones which might spread to the metaphysis. We report a case of an 18-year-old patient who presented with progressive right knee pain which aggravated with movements. Investigations included X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and biochemical assessment. A focal, well-defined, lesion in the upper end of the tibia with surrounding ma
