The monoclonal antibody Ki-67, which reacts with cells in the active part of the cell cycle, was used to evaluate immunocytochemically the growth fraction in 22 primary brain neoplasms. The percentage of labelled cells reflected the histological grade of malignancy of each neoplasms. High percentage of Ki-67-positive cells were observed in one choroid plexus carcinoma (60%), one primary melanoma of meninges (40%), three medulloblastomas (40%-50%), one anaplastic astrocytoma and six glioblastomas (10%-40%). One ependymoma had 7% positive cells. Rare positive cells (1%) were present in one piloc

Choroid plexus tumors (CPTs) are rare neoplasms. Patient presentation varies depending on the location of the lesions. Gross total resection of primary lesions remains the gold standard for surgical treatment of CPTs. Here, we present the case of a 22-year-old male patient with 2-day history of abnormal body movement and headache who was found to have an enhancing mass of the lateral ventricle. The patient underwent craniotomy for gross-total resection of the lesion, with final histopathology demonstrating WHO Grade II aCPP.

BACKGROUND: Li-Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS) is a cancer predisposition syndrome characterized by the early-onset of multiple primary cancers which can occur at different moments (metachronous onset) or, more rarely, coincidentally (synchronous onset). Here we describe a previously unreported patient with presentation of synchronous Wilms tumor and Choroid plexus papilloma, leading to the diagnosis of a Li-Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS).
CASE PRESENTATION: A 6-year-old girl without previous complains presented with abdominal pain. Abdominal US and MRI showed a left renal tumor with subcapsular hematoma. D

BACKGROUND: The prevalence of adnexal masses is 0.17% to 5.9% in asymptomatic and 7.1% to 12% in symptomatic patients. They can be benign or malignant. The initial detection and evaluation of an adnexal mass requires a high index of suspicion, a thorough history and examination and careful attention to subtle historical clues. Timely appropriate laboratory studies like serum cancer markers and radiographic studies are required to make a diagnosis, and finally, histopathological report tells us the exact nature of mass and guides further management.
METHODOLOGY: This prospective observational

OBJECTIVE: Primary central nervous system non-Hodgkin lymphoma (PCNSL) is a malignant lymphoma limited to the cranial-spinal axis in the absence of systemic lymphoma. Historically, PCNSL accounts for fewer than 5% of all cases of primary intracranial neoplasms. PCNSL is rare in immunocompetent young adults. Although the prognosis for PCNSL is poor, approximately 20%-30% percent of cases achieve a cure.
METHODS: We report two cases of PCNSL originating in the ventricle in otherwise healthy immunocompetent young adults.
RESULTS: A 27-year-old man presented with 10 days of nausea, vomiting, and

Lateral ventricular neoplasms are rare, and account for 50% of all intraventricular tumors in adults and 25% in children. Although these neoplasms are easily detected with computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), both techniques are relatively unspecific in identifying the type of tumor. However, few imaging patterns are specific for a particular pathological process and useful conclusions can be made from the morphological appearance of the lesion, its location and enhancement pattern. The aim of this article was to review and illustrate the CT and MRI findings of a wide

OBJECTIVE: We report a case of a choroid plexus vascular malformation of the cerebral aqueduct, third, and fourth ventricles of an adolescent female that was resected with endoscopic assistance.
CLINICAL PRESENTATION: A 14-year-old girl presented with a 1-week history of headaches and emesis. A noncontrasted computed tomographic scan of the head demonstrated enlarged lateral and third ventricles. Subsequent magnetic resonance imaging scans with and without contrast revealed an enhancing mass originating in the third ventricle, traversing the cerebral aqueduct, and terminating in the fourth ve

INTRODUCTION: Choroid plexus tumors are uncommon intraventricular tumors that develop from the choroid plexus of the central nervous system. Choroid plexus papillomas arising from the cerebellopontine angle have been reported to almost exclusively occur in adults and are rarely found in children.
METHODS: We report a systematic review conducted in accordance with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines of SCOPUS and PubMed databases for case reports and case series of choroid plexus papillomas arising in the cerebellopontine angle in the pedi

CASE SUMMARY: A 10-year-old male neutered Russian Blue cat was presented with a 2-month history of progressive non-ambulatory paraparesis. Spinal MRI revealed a well-demarcated, compressive intradural extramedullary mass at the level of T1 vertebra. The mass had subtle hyperintensity on T2-weighted images, was isointense on T1-weighted images and had diffuse, marked enhancement following gadolinium administration. Neuroaxis MRI, including limited brain sequences, excluded other visible lesions. Thoracic and abdominal radiographs were unremarkable. The mass was resected via a dorsal C7-T2 lamin

OBJECTIVE: Choroid plexus tumors (CPTs) are rare pediatric intracranial neoplasms, and mostly occur in the lateral ventricle. CPTs located in the infratentorial location are considered to be rare in the pediatric population. We present a series of eight patients treated in the last decade at our institution focusing on clinical presentations and their outcome after excision.
METHODS: We performed an institutional retrospective review of patients who underwent surgical resection of infratentorial CPTs during the period from 2008 to 2017. Patients' charts were reviewed for demographic data, cli

Choroid plexus papillomas are highly vascular tumors, and such tumors causing subarachnoid hemorrhage have been reported in literature. Similarly, few articles have reported atypical fourth ventricular choroid plexus tumors in adults. However, such an atypical tumor presenting with grossly hemorrhagic transformation without any acute symptoms could not be found in the literature.

BACKGROUND: Tumors of the choroid plexus of the third ventricle are uncommon. Surgical excision is technically challenging because of the rich vascularisation, central location, and high incidence in young children. Open microsurgical resection is considered the standard treatment. However, attempts at purely endoscopic removal of choroid plexus tumors of the third ventricle have also been made in the past, with encouraging results.
CASE REPORTS: We report our experience with endoscopic ultrasonic removal of two cases of tumors of the third ventricular choroid plexus. The first case was a lar

Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is an extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma arising from and confined to the neuraxis. It represents about 3-4% of all primitive brain neoplasms and is mainly located in deep supratentorial regions. A ventricular involvement is quite frequent, but in the vast majority of cases it is secondary to an extension from a subependymal location. Amongst the primary ventricular forms occasionally reported, a choroid plexus origin is extremely rare; to date, only three cases have been described in the English literature. We report the case of a 71-year-old left-

Tumors that were identical in morphology to a previously excised atrial myxoma were found in the choroid plexus and the scapula of a 46-year-old woman 8 and 10.5 years, respectively, after cardiac surgery. Ultrastructurally the scapular lesion resembled previously reported atrial myxomas. This case demonstrates that atrial myxoma is a true neoplasm capable of metastatic spread despite its slow growth and innocuous histologic appearance.

Choroid plexus papillomas (CPPs) are rare central nervous system benign tumours and spinal metastases are even less frequent. Herein, we describe a case of a 51-year-old man with several episodes of loss of consciousness. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) displayed a fourth ventricle contrast-enhancing lesion that was totally resected, and histopathological findings showed a papillary neoplasm derived from choroid plexus epithelium, with mild pleomorphism and absence of mitotic activity, consistent with CPP. Two months after the first operation, multiple spinal drop metastases at L4, L5 a

Pediatric brain tumors are an incredibly diverse group of neoplasms and neuropathological tumor classification is an essential part of patient care. Classification of pediatric brain tumors has changed considerably in recent years as molecular diagnostics have become incorporated with routine histopathology in the diagnostic process. This article will focus on the fundamental major histologic, immunohistochemical, and molecular features that neuropathologists use to make an integrated diagnosis of pediatric brain tumors. This concise review will focus on tumors that are integral to the central
