Characterization of Black Pigmenturia in a Cat with Apocrine Gland Cystadenocarcinoma.

An 8-year-old neutered female domestic shorthair cat was presented for further management of an apocrine gland cystadenocarcinoma. Extensive nodal metastasis was diagnosed and the cat was humanely destroyed 2 months after presentation. Post-mortem histopathology of the cystadenocarcinoma revealed areas of yellow-brown granular pigmentation on light microscopy, staining positively for reducing substances with Schmorl's stain and demonstrating autofluorescence on confocal microscopy. The cat's urine was black and also exhibited autofluorescence, and further analysis revealed increased free pento

Papillary Cystadenocarcinoma of the Parotid Gland: A Rare Case Report.

Papillary cystadenocarcinoma is a rare malignant neoplasm of the salivary gland, characterized by noticeable cystic and solid areas with papillary endophytic projections. These tumours lack features that characterize cystic variants of several more common salivary gland carcinomas. It was first described in 1991 by World Health Organization as a separate entity and cystadenocarcinoma with or without papillary component in the AFIP classification. Most of these tumours occurred in the major salivary glands followed by minor salivary glands. Cystadenocarcinoma is the malignant counterpart of cys

Cystadenocarcinoma of the salivary glands with potential lymph node metastasis.

Cystadenocarcinoma derived from the salivary gland in the head and neck region is an extremely rare malignancy. Therefore, the clinicopathological characteristics is not well understood. The purpose of this study was to clarify the clinicopathological characteristics, and present a total of four patients who were treated at the National Cancer Center Hospital East during the period between 1995 and 2012. The patients were all male, with ages ranging from 47 to 74 years old. The primary sites were the parotid glands, submandibular gland and minor salivary gland of the tongue. Within the follow-

[Mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix complicated with spontaneous cutaneous fistula].

Mucocele of the appendix is a relatively rare disease characterized by a cystic dilatation of the appendiceal lumen with stasis of mucus inside. Appendiceal mucocele with a cutaneous fistula is an extremely rare clinical entity, only four such cases being described in the medical literature. We report an additional case of cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix with spontaneous cutaneous fistula. The patient is an 80-year old woman, who originally presented with a skin ulcer in the right lower abdominal quadrant with mucus discharge during the last month. Abdominal ultrasonography and computed tom

Pancreatic panniculitis in a patient with an acinar cell cystadenocarcinoma of the pancreas.

We describe a 60-year-old man with pancreatic panniculitis associated with arthritis and peripheral eosinophilia in whom the skin symptoms led to a diagnosis of an underlying acinar cell cystadenocarcinoma. The panniculitis involved initially the legs, but soon thereafter lesions developed on the trunk and upper extremities. In the literature, only 5 cases of pancreatic acinar cell cystadenocarcinoma have been reported, none of these in association with panniculitis.

Ovarian papillary cystadenocarcinomas in a green iguana (Iguana iguana).

The clinical, gross morphological and histological characteristics of bilateral ovarian papillary cystadenocarcinomas in an adult female green iguana (Iguana iguana) are documented in this report. Histologically, the tumour consisted of an invasive mass of small glandular structures, irregular arboriform papillae and cystic structures arising from the ovarian surface epithelium. Metastatic implants were extensively disseminated along the serosa of the coelomic viscera, mesentery and fat bodies. Tumour morphology and metastatic behaviour indicated a close resemblance to cystadenocarcinoma in ot

[A case of mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix penetrating the urinary bladder].

The patient, an 81-year-old woman, had the chief complaint of macroscopic hematuria. Cystoscopy revealed a bladder tumor, which was determined by biopsy to be mucin-producing adenocarcinoma. Appendiceal carcinoma that invaded the bladder were diagnosed preoperatively by air-contract barium enema and magnetic resonance. She was treated with partial cystectomy and resection of the cecum. Sixteen cases of appendiceal carcinoma with invasion into the bladder have been reported in Japan.

Biliary cystadenocarcinoma with superficial spread to the extrahepatic bile duct.

We report a case of biliary cystadenocarcinoma of the liver with superficial spread to the extrahepatic bile duct. Preoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiography revealed communication between a 4.5-cm cyst in segment 4 of the liver and the bile duct. From the findings obtained by peroral cholangioscopy and intraoperative cholangioscopy, the granular mucosa in the bile duct was diagnosed as superficially spreading cancer. The right posterior segmental bile duct and the right anterior segmental bile duct were resected at the point where the spread of cancer was no longer traceable and left

Salivary gland cystadenocarcinomas. A clinicopathologic study of 57 cases.

Current classification schemes for salivary gland neoplasms categorize cystadenocarcinomas on the basis of a recurring histomorphologic pattern of cystic, and often, papillary growth without features of other specific types of salivary gland tumors. To ascertain the clinicomorphologic spectrum and biologic behavior of this tumor, the clinicopathologic features of 57 cystadenocarcinomas from the files of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology were studied. Excluding five Veterans Administration military cases, men and women were equally affected. Patients ranged in age from 20 to 86 years (mea

Cystadenoma and cystadenocarcinoma with mesenchymal stroma of the liver. Immunohistochemical analysis.

Cystadenoma with mesenchymal stroma is a rare neoplasm of the liver that occurs exclusively in young women and has a potential for malignant transformation. A light microscopic and immunohistochemical study of a case of biliary cystadenoma and another of biliary cystadenocarcinoma revealed a range of differentiation of the lining epithelial cells. The lining cells in the cystadenoma resembled the cells of the normal intrahepatic bile ducts. In contrast, the epithelial lining in the case of cystadenocarcinoma had features of intestinal mucosa, including goblet, Paneth, and endocrine cells simil

Mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the retroperitoneum: a light and electron microscopic study.

A large, ovarian-type, retroperitoneal cystic tumor existing in the presence of normal ovaries was studied morphologically by light and electron microscopy. The cyst was monolocular, having several papillary nodules which measured 0.2-2.0 cm in diameter, and protruded into the lumen. Histologically, most of the tumor wall was covered by mesothelium-like cells which showed signs of differentiation into either a benign endocervical type mucinous epithelium or a mucinous epithelium of borderline malignancy, particularly around the nodules. The papillary nodules themselves had the histological fea

Segment I intrahepatic biliary cystadenocarcinoma impinging on the hepatic vein.

BACKGROUND: Biliary cystadenoma is a rare cystic tumor; prognosis is dependent on the completeness of the surgical resection. CASE REPORT: The case of a 65-year-old woman with a multilocular cystic hepatic tumor is reported. Radiological and laboratory findings suggested the diagnosis of cystadenoma with localized malignant degeneration. RESULTS: A surgical resection of hepatic Segment I was performed, requiring total vascular exclusion (TVE) of the liver and a needle aspiration of a non-degenerated cyst to permit total resection. CONCLUSIONS: TVE and decompression of a cyst presumed to be

Papillary cystadenocarcinoma of submandibular salivary gland: a rare case report.

Papillary cystadenocarcinoma is an extremely rare malignant neoplasm characterized by cysts and papillary endophytic projections. It was first defined in 1991 by World Health organization as a separate entity. Major locations of this neoplasm are the parotid gland, the sublingual gland, and minor salivary glands, while occurrence in the submandibular gland is extremely rare. We present a case of papillary cystadenocarinoma arising from the submandibular gland in a 67-year-old male patient. Further, we have discussed the cytological and histopathological features of this rare entity and reviewe

Paratesticular papillary serous cystadenocarcinoma: a rare entity in Indian population.

Ovarian-type surface epithelial carcinomas of testis and paratestis are very rare. These tumors develop from mesothelial inclusions or abnormalities in the development of coelomic epithelium. The diagnosis of these lesions can be difficult, both clinically and radiologically, as morphological, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural features overlap with serous tumors arising in the female genital tract. The pathologist should be aware of the histopathological features and immunostains which help in reaching definite diagnosis. To the best of our knowledge only one such case has been reported

Imaging findings of urachal mucinous cystadenocarcinoma associated with pseudomyxoma peritonei.

Pseudomyxoma peritonei is an uncommon neoplastic condition in which gelatinous fluid-like materials are observed in the peritoneal cavity caused by the dissemination of mucinous adenocarcinoma. Although ruptured appendiceal mucocele is the most common cause, tumors arising from other organs may also cause pseudomyxoma peritonei. We report the imaging findings of an extremely rare case of urachal mucinous adenocarcinoma associated with pseudomyxoma peritonei on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging with histopathologic correlation.

Solitary pancreatic tuberculous abscess mimicking prancreatic cystadenocarcinoma: a case report.

BACKGROUND: The incidence of pancreatic tuberculosis is extremely rare, and it frequently misdiagnosed as pancreatic neoplasms. The nonsurgical diagnosis of this entity continues to be a challenge. CASE PRESENTATION: A 33 year old male with six-month history of intermittent right epigastric vague pain and weight lost had found a solitary pancreatic cystic mass and diagnosed as pancreatic cystadenocarcinoma. The chest X-ray film and physical examination revealed no abnormalities. Abdominal ultrasound (US) examination showed an irregular hypoechoic lesion of 6.6 cm x 4.4 cm in the head of pancr

Bilateral Ovarian Mucinous Cystadenocarcinoma in an Adolescent Girl: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND: Primary epithelial ovarian malignancies in adolescents are extremely rare (<1%). Mucinous cystadenocarcinoma (MCAC), especially bilateral disease, is exceptional and often mimics benign ovarian cysts, delaying the diagnosis. CASE: We report a 16-year-old girl with hypothyroidism who presented with abdominal distension, pain, and 20-kg weight gain. Imaging showed bilateral ovarian masses with omental nodularity despite normal tumor markers. Surgery confirmed International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) IIIC bilateral MCAC, and she completed six cycles of paclitaxel-

Primary Retroperitoneal Mucinous Cystadenocarcinoma in a Male Patient: A Case Report.

Primary retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenocarcinoma (PRMC) is an uncommon malignant neoplasm with few reported cases, particularly among male patients. Currently, only nine documented cases have been reported worldwide, including the present case. The present case report describes the incidental detection of PRMC in an 86-year-old male patient. Despite being offered surgical intervention, the patient initially opted against treatment. Consequently, follow-up imaging examinations were performed for 3 subsequent years. The tumor, initially measuring 31 × 32 × 31 mm, gradually increased to 58 × 6
