Breast cancer (BC) is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in women, necessitating the development of novel therapeutic targets. Cytochrome b deficiency in the peripheral granulocytes of two male patients with chronic granulomatous disease was demonstrated by an immunocytochemical assay using a monoclonal antibody, 7D5, against human neutrophil cytochrome b. The effects of hydroxycobalamin on inhibition of the isolated cytochrome c oxidase (EC 1.9.3.1) by cyanide were studied. No effect of hydroxycobalamin (HCo) and cyanocobalamin (CNCo) was observed on isolated cytochrome c oxidase. BACKGROUND: Leishmaniasis is an emerging vector-borne disease in Sri Lanka. Phlebotomus (Euphlebotomus) argentipes sensu lato Annandale and Brunette 1908 is suspected to be a potential vector.
