Comparison of 3D Accuracy of Conventional Cast Metal to Milled Zirconia Implant-Supported Full-Arch Fixed Dental Prosthesis Frameworks.

PURPOSE: To compare the 3D accuracy of conventional and digital workflows in the fabrication of implant-supported full-arch fixed dental prosthesis (FAFDP) frameworks for an edentulous mandible. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A heat-polymerized polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) master model simulated an edentulous mandible to be restored with a fixed prosthesis supported by five implants (implants A to E). A conventional open-tray, splinted-coping polyether impression was poured with type 4 dental stone to produce a stone model, which was scanned with a dental laboratory scanner to produce a virtual mod

Oral Mucosal Melanoma In Situ Manifesting as Multiple Gingival Macules Around a Dental Implant-Based Prosthesis: A Case Report.

INTRODUCTION: Oral malignant melanoma in situ is a rare lesion that may precede the development of invasive oral malignant melanoma. We report an unusual presentation of a rare oral malignant melanoma in situ as multiple gingival macules around a dental implant-supported prosthesis, posing a significant diagnostic challenge. METHOD: A 68-year-old Caucasian male presented with two black macules on the buccal gingiva of a dental implant and pontic of the implant-based prosthesis; they were asymmetric, with discrete borders, smooth surface, and homogenous color. Two small areas of gray discolora

Dental prosthesis extraoral indexing and pick-up technique for mandibular full arch immediate rehabilitation in fibula free flap reconstruction.

Same-day ablative and reconstructive surgeries for the treatment of head and neck pathologies are gaining in popularity with the recognition that single-day surgeries reduce morbidity and increase quality of life. Implant-borne prosthetics on the donor graft provide immediate dental reconstruction. This report describes a novel technique for extraoral pickup of a full arch immediate prosthesis from the donor site free flap. This technique minimizes intraoperative occlusal adjustments, saves intraoperative time, prevents undesirable "rolling" of a fibula segment, and immediately rehabilitates p

Use of a 3-Dimensional Custom-Made Porous Titanium Prosthesis for Mandibular Body Reconstruction With Prosthetic Dental Rehabilitation and Lipofilling.

Reconstruction of mandibular substance loss by a free flap is a widely used technique. This technique suffers from several disadvantages, including the presence of a second intervention site and a substantial frequency of complications. We have undertaken a custom-made 3-dimensional reconstruction (using computer-aided design and manufacturing) with prosthetic dental rehabilitation and esthetic improvement by lipomodeling of the face. A 50-year-old woman presented with a massive recurrence of an ameloblastoma of the right hemimandible. A cervical approach was used to resect the mandible well a
