According to the World Health Organization, 3 out of 5 deaths worldwide are due to common, chronic conditions, such as heart and respiratory diseases, cancer, and diabetes. These noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are linked to multiple lifestyle risk factors, including smoking, the harmful use of alcohol, and physical inactivity. They are associated with other "intermediate" risk factors, such as elevated body mass index (BMI), hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and hyperglycemia. Taking action to reduce these 7 risk factors can help people protect themselves against leading causes of death. All of t

BACKGROUND: Digital technologies can substantially improve mental health care by facilitating measurement-based care through routine outcome monitoring. However, their effectiveness is constrained by the extent to which these technologies are used by services, clinicians, and clients.
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to investigate engagement with the Innowell platform, a measurement-based digital mental health technology (DMHT), to gain insights into the individual- and service-level factors influencing engagement.
METHODS: Participants were 2682 help-seeking clients from 12 Australian mental hea

BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic has shifted mental health care delivery to digital platforms, videoconferencing, and other mobile communications. However, existing reviews of digital health interventions are narrow in scope and focus on a limited number of mental health conditions.ObjectiveTo address this gap, we conducted a comprehensive systematic meta-review of the literature to assess the state of digital health interventions for the treatment of mental health conditions.MethodsWe searched MEDLINE for secondary literature published between 2010 and 2021 on the use, efficacy, and appropriat

A new wave of portable biosensors allows frequent measurement of health-related physiology. We investigated the use of these devices to monitor human physiological changes during various activities and their role in managing health and diagnosing and analyzing disease. By recording over 250,000 daily measurements for up to 43 individuals, we found personalized circadian differences in physiological parameters, replicating previous physiological findings. Interestingly, we found striking changes in particular environments, such as airline flights (decreased peripheral capillary oxygen saturatio

INTRODUCTION: Digital public health governance needs to identify community-level health risks beyond data generated after residents enter medical-service settings. In this study, resident-side health information refers to resident-reported information on residential noise perception, sleep disturbance, and health behavior that can supplement medical-service data. Noise pollution is a frequently perceived environmental problem in everyday life, and China's source-based noise governance framework needs resident-side evidence on whether different noise sources correspond to different sleep-relate

INTRODUCTION: Health information technology (HIT) is now integral to healthcare delivery, supporting clinical documentation, prescribing, diagnostics, and care coordination. Although these technologies offer substantial benefits, they have also introduced new patient safety risks that are often difficult to anticipate, detect, or manage. Many HIT-related safety problems arise not from isolated technical failures or individual mistakes, but from complex interactions between digital systems, clinical work practices, organisational structures, and governance arrangements. Traditional patient safe

Chronic dermatological conditions impose a significant burden on global health and quality of life. The etiology of these disorders is multifaceted, driven by complex interactions between endogenous factors and the "skin exposome", which comprises a person's environmental exposure and lifestyle. While digital health systems (DHSs) have transformed the management of numerous chronic diseases, a unified framework that captures the dynamic interplay of environment, behavior, and skin physiology has not been fully established to date. Therefore, this review proposes and evaluates a holistic "envir

BACKGROUND: Health care continues to advance through digital innovation, and technology-enabled processes and interventions are increasingly being introduced to deliver and expand access to care. In this evolving digital health ecosystem, health care professionals (HCPs), learners, and organizations may not be prepared or equipped with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to navigate these new digital tools while simultaneously sustaining and integrating compassionate care. Moreover, the tools may not be designed and implemented in a manner that facilitates digital compassion.

Post-COVID-19 (or Long Covid) presents a complex and persistent health challenge affecting a growing number of individuals worldwide. Digital health interventions (DHIs) offer potential support for symptom monitoring, self-management, and information access. However, their availability, quality, and sustainability remain uncertain, particularly in smaller healthcare markets such as Switzerland. This study provides a descriptive assessment of ten representative DHIs for Long Covid available from Switzerland. Each tool was evaluated using a 19-item framework derived from validated instruments. T

Digital media have become a central part of children's and adolescents' daily lives, with increasing usage time and decreasing age of first exposure in recent years. While digital technologies offer opportunities for social participation, access to information, education, and therapeutic support, they are also associated with several risks to mental health. These include problematic use patterns, cyberbullying, exposure to harmful content and hazardous contacts as well as commercial exploitation through manipulative design practices ("dark patterns"). This evidence review summarizes current re

This brief report examines the association between health information literacy and digital self-efficacy (DSE) in patients with multiple sclerosis or epilepsy (pwMS/E). The focus is specifically on critical and risk-conscious aspects of health information literacy. The study used survey data (N = 287) collected from pwMS/E. The analysis comprises a principal component analysis and a regression analysis. In a model controlling age, gender and subjective anxiousness and/or depression, a high level of health information literacy was associated with higher DSE. The model explained over one-third o

A number of seismic shifts are expected to reshape the future of medicine. The global population is rapidly aging, significantly impacting the global disease burden. Medicine is undergoing a paradigm shift, defining and diagnosing diseases at earlier stages and shifting the health care focus from treating diseases to preventing them. The application and purview of digital medicine are expected to broaden significantly. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated the shift toward predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory (P4) medicine, and has identified health care

Multiple myeloma (MM) is associated with the highest symptom burden and lowest health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among patients with hematologic malignancies. HRQoL in MM is heterogeneous, varying over the course of disease, with the highest burden at diagnosis and relapse. Patients with MM are increasingly being treated with oral maintenance medications at home. As a result, longitudinal monitoring of medication adherence and patient-reported outcomes, including HRQoL, could inform on disease status, therapeutic tolerability, and satisfaction with care. BACKGROUND: In a culture where health decisions are often made collectively rather than individually, how digitalization reshapes this process has not been sufficiently explored. The aim of this study is to reveal how family members experience digital health technologies in the context of family health decisions and how this experience is interpreted in terms of decision-making authority, trust and intergenerational interaction.
METHOD: In this study, phenomenological design was used to reveal how individuals experience digital health applications in the context of family health decisions and

This review addresses current research on the impact of digitalization on the mental health of young people. It was found that digital transformation contributes to a change in cognitive functions, including a deterioration in concentration and the dominance of mosaic thinking. Adverse psycho-emotional effects of excessive consumption of digital content were identified, such as anxiety-depressive states, lack of social skills, dysregulation of circadian rhythms, and the development of addictions. The duality of the effect of digital technologies on the mental state of young people is emphasize

This paper studies employee health in the context of digital transformation in Germany. While most studies have focused on mental health, we focus on physical health. Using pooled survey data, we estimate how an increased use of computers in the workplace relates to subjective health and work-related health complaints. We find that employees using the computer frequently report better subjective health and a significantly lower prevalence of back pain and physical exhaustion. After controlling for physical work exposures, the health-promoting effect of computer use is much smaller, suggesting

Background: Today the internet is a major source of health information, and younger generations have more confidence in their digital information seeking skills and awareness of online resources than older generations. Older generations, however, are more in demand of health services. The aim of our study was to explore these generational differences as related to self-perceived eHealth literacy and health care system utilization. Methods: A cross-sectional survey study with 522 subjects was done in Hungary. Every subject belonged to one of four generations (Baby boomers, X, Y, and Z). The Web
