The authors report 8 adenomatoid tumors treated in the Urology Department of the Medical Academy of Warsaw by organ sparing surgery during 1985-2003. Microscopic and immuno-histochemic investigations confirmed their benign character and histiogenesis. Follow-up of 6 treated patients, over 5-15 years did not reveal recurrence of the neoplasm. Two patients were treated this year and are under medical observation.

Herein, we report on a rare case of leiomyoma of the epididymis. The case we present involved a 55-year-old patient who had had a painless left scrotal mass for 20 years. The mass was round and elastic and measured about 2 x 2 x 2 cm. We recognized the mass as a benign tumor by scrotal ultrasonography and performed an organ salvage operation for this patient. We report a case of papillary cystadenoma of the right epididymis in a 48-year-old man. He consulted our hospital complaining of a small, painless mass at the upper pole of the right testis. Earlier, the cause of infertility in undescended testis (UT) had been widely accepted as a consequence of the higher temperature of the inguinal/abdominal region. This histological study of the human ductus epididymidis in autopsy or surgical specimens revealed the presence of multiple intra-epithelial cavities or pits showing a variable degree of development. In 54 patients with 70 undescended testes hospitalized for orchiopexy epididymal anatomy was examined intraoperatively. Of the testes 66 per cent had abnormal epididymides, which suggests a possibly significant role for the epididymis in the process of testicular descent.

An elderly male presented with painful swelling in the right side of scrotum. He was treated with antibiotics for epididymoorchitis without any response. Ultrasound examination revealed a hypoechoic vascular mass in the tail of the epididymis. Fine needle aspirate cytology was inconclusive. Excision of the mass was done and biopsy revealed primary extranodal marginal zone lymphoma arising from mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) of epididymis. We aimed to describe the morphologic characteristics of the appendix epididymis that appears cystic on ultrasound (US) examinations. Two hundred and seventy-two patients (544 testes) were examined by US for various scrotal complaints. The patients were prospectively evaluated for the presence of testicular appendages. Cystic appendix epididymis on US examinations was classified according to the presence of the stalk and size of the cyst. Testicular appendages have been identified in 337 out of 544 testes (61.9%).
